We'd like to do a family ski holiday next Feb half term for DH, me and DD (10). All beginners so no need for black runs! We are not fussy about where, but would like to have lifts that we can walk to rather then get a ski bus. We'd all need lessons - can we do this as a family? To give me an idea of prices I've been looking to see what it costs this half term but to be honest I'm finding it all confusing! Any advice is welcome, who you book through, where's good, how lessons work etc! Thank you

Crystal website is excellent. Suggest you look at Kransjke Gora, Slovenia. Small resort offers plenty for beginners. For more advanced skiers, the skiing is also good, but just not a lot of it.

Hi OP - I'd be very interested in how your searching is going as we are in a very similar position. First timers so only want somewhere that is geared up for beginners and isn't miles away from where we need to be. How's it all going, have you found anywhere? The idea of booking it DIY sounds appealing as ideally would like to keep it to £4k - do you think this is achievable for Feb HT?

What a lovely idea to go on a Skiing trip with the whole family! My parents took us on skiing trips every year, we were so lucky and happy! Unfortunately I cannot do the same with my child at the moment. Swiss and France are pretty expensive places to go during the Skiing season. Austria is a bit better priced and the facilities and pistes are really great. I always advice to rent an apartment close to the piste, this improves the experience tremendously. In regards to the lessons. I would highly recommend to get private lessons with the whole family. It's a bit kore expensive but its great banding and you will pick it up much quicker. Classes are mostly overcrowded and the instructor is mostly busy with the weakest link in the group.
