Skiing in Morzine at Christmas - kids are disgruntled!

Has anyone been to Morzine over Christmas with children? We are arriving late Christmas Eve and kids will be starting lessons on Christmas Day! They are cross because they want Christmas Day at home and LOTS of presents. We are flying so will arrive without any food and can't take many presents. Want them to have fun. Anyone got any tips on restaurants or home delivery services for Christmas Eve and Day and other activities we can do with them when not skiing? Thanks so much.

I think the Skiing holiday is one big family present.

Poor children 😂

are there really scheduled ski lessons on Christmas Day?

that sounds miserable! why not let them start the lessons the next morning - just do some family skiing/sledging/snowball fighting on the day itself?

Have they been skiing before? Usually French resorts will have fun events on Christmas day (santa and his huskies on the piste, sweets etc) so I would check out the Office du tourisme website and see what the plans are and drip feed accordingly.

They will need to do the ski lesson on Christmas Day, esp if it is the first one / they aren't experienced.

how old are they? I take it you are self catering...but I would suggest you book somewhere (pizza / kid friendly restaurant) for Xmas day.

sorry I don't know Morzine so no specifics.

Can you get them small pressies that will travel well as opposed to big packages? Nice sunglasses, goggles, scarf / hat? Smart new anoraks?

Morzine is fab. Make time to go swimming on Avoriaz
☺️

Could you do a Christmas meal and some presents at home (perhaps with other family) before you go?

I have to admit that my children would have an absolute fit if we suggested going away for Christmas. We know a few friends going away this year and my children are quite clear that is not what they would want. They like Christmas they way it is!

I hope you all have a lovely time once your children have got used to it being different I've been to Morzine on holiday in the summer and it is a lovely place with lots of cosy restaurants etc - not just a resort. I think it will feel Christmassy.

ski lessons on Christmas Day. That sounds miserable

Really? Clearly you're not a ski addict. My kids will ski Christmas day and love it. They were in lessons last Christmas day too and had a great time. We may not make the first lift on Chritmas morning, but we'll certainly all want to go.

We are flying and we take a case of food - familiar treats rather than unknown local stuff. We take a stocking for each of them and we have 'Christmas' with family before we go.
