Can someone give me an idiots guide to what clothes we'll need?

I had a look, but couldn't find a similar thread. We're off skiing as a family for the first time in Jan, so that's me, dh and dds aged 4 and 6. Dh has ski boots and skis, but other than that, we have nothing. Can someone guide me on what we will need, without breaking the bank? I'm happy to search eBay etc, or buy new at a reasonable price. Just seen all the additional replies on this thread, thanks all! I got some lovely thermals for us all today in M&S. Got a pack of 3 long sleeve thermal tops for each dd, plus 2 x thermal leggings each. Then got a wool base layer long sleeve top for me, with thumb holes, and some lovely thermal leggings too, so hopefully this is a good start.

Both dds have 2 fleeces each. We're being lent some of the outer stuff, so just need stuff like socks & gloves now I think. Had a look in Mountain Warehouse today & they have lots of ski stuff in now.

If anyone wants a pair of ski goggles, I'd be happy to give mine to a good home. They're sitting in my cupboard (in their box) never to be used again... skiing and I weren't compatible

They were relatively cheap and cheerful (£10-£15 I think) but worked perfectly well for me so might be of use to someone.

Thermal clothing

Ski socks ( get good ones boots can rub badly )

Lots of winter tops / jumpers

Gloves

Hats

Helmet

Sunglasses

Suncream

Ski goggles

You need a little backpack as well for your water bottle/suncream/spare gloves/chocolate bar ideally.

Aldi are doing a special buy ski week from Thursday 12 January according to our local branch, if you need new gear. Their stuff seems to get reasonable reviews
