So from a previous thread I was all set to go to Center Parcs in Germany and ski there a la annecys fab sounding suggestion. However flights to Germany from our local airport are already looking ridiculous. I found Turin flights for next half term really cheaply.

Where would you recommend that's within reasonable driving ( or preferably with a bus link) from Turin with good skiing for beginners/intermediates please? We could do Serre Chevalier again, but looking for other options as well as accommodation is looking pricey there.

Thanks.

I found scuola do ski Breuli very helpful and responsive. We've paid a deposit and all booked.... apparently.

Angelcake20 where are you staying? We're staying at the Dragon hotel, it may be 'interesting' as more like rooms above a pub, but close to the lifts!

Hi angelcake I've got a pretty reasonable quote from the Hotel Genzianella. Which slopes are they closest to and do you need to drive to them in the morning ?
Thanks

Dcmtyc, we have an apartment just down the road from the Dragon. We lunched there last time but I haven't been in the evening.

Rookie, the Genzianella is in a little village called St Jacques about 2.5 miles from Champoluc centre. IIRC the buses run every half an hour so unless you're very patient and DCs aren't too small, I'd hesitate to do it without a car. The buses also stop about 7.30, which makes it tricky if you want to eat out a lot. There are two routes into the slopes: one gondola pretty close to the town centre and a funicular at Frachey about half way between Champoluc and St Jacques. If you were having lessons, they would start centrally but other than that, Frachey is the easier route into the slopes for beginners.

Cool, hopefully this amazing snow will last!

Have a great time skiing.

I feel so bad, after all this good advice from everyone we've decided to go back to Serre Chevalier Blush.

Reasons being that a) there's a great English run ski school there that DS will be happy to go to b) I kind of know who to speak to about stuff and what apartment to go for c) DH has a pal there so he could potentially do snow shoeing if he doesn't want to go skiing.
