Skiing with a toddler and a baby - crazy?

I'm currently PG with DC2 and already thinking about a ski holiday in spring 2017! All going well, DC1 will then be 2.5 years and DC2 will be 11 months. We would bring my DM (now a non skier) along but would need some form of childcare too so that she can go for walks etc. We are flexible as to country...I am an experienced skier and DH is a lower intermediate.

Would Club Med be best? Any other suggestions? What type of budget would we need for 3 adults and 2 DC..?

We have always gone skiing with children. Took ds1 with us at 10 weeks.
It's good for all ages tbh. Mine started ski lessons at 2 years so you will be probably looking at lessons for your eldest. We used a private instructor , most places a joint ski school is over 3/4 years.

Generally for a budget ski trip you are looking at £1000 per adult. The non skier adult will be a few hundred cheaper as lift passes and hire add a fair bit (£250 ish now for 6 day lift pass, £100 for skis/ boots)

We have never gone club med or similar though. So for small Children cost is mainly flights as accommodation free/ cheap ( they generally are sharing with you). But somewhere like club med you will pay a premium.

When ds1 was 2, and ds2 9 months was first year both with us skiing. Mil and pil with us. Mil would stay with baby ds 9-12 and meet us at a location for lunch. Ski instructor collected 2 year old from our chalet and took out 9-12, dropping him at restaurant also at 12. Dh and I skied with other family or friends or alone 9-12. After 12 Dh and I took turns staying with kids so mil could go out if she wanted ( also non skier), but usually one of us would just ski until 3 whilst the kids napped and after 3pm we would do something as a family like sledging/ sleigh rides/ walk/ play in snow/ swim

Thank you ArtandCo - that's very helpful particularly your daily itinerary

Club Med is hideously expensive, there are other companies that do similar childcare that are much cheaper. But as you have some childcare already then I wouldn't bother with any of the companies that have built in childcare.

Personally I would just hire a nanny for a few mornings. We hired a nanny for two kids for a whole week on one of our skiing holidays and it was fairly reasonable in comparison with the cost of childcare from Esprit/Crystal.

Try a chalet as then you would have communal area like living room and TV for family time and if mil wants to stay with them at home for the morning means she's not cooped up in a hotel room and means in the evenings when kids are a sleep you can all be together drinking if you want or having down time with out being in a room with kids
