Rauris in Austria for absolute beginners?

We're looking at Rauris for DH, dd (will be 9) and I for our first ski holiday in feb midterm. After a decade of saying we'll go skiing, I am turning 49 so determined we will!

We don't want après ski, we need activity in daytime, and are happy to have quiet nights. We all need a good break as much as the activity.

Dd has ADHD so will keep going all day (so Austria seemed better than Andorra). I am a bit unfit but working on it. We'll do the dry slope before going. DH is concerned to go half board that the food will be awful.

Have we picked a decent place? Any good places to go when we are there, to eat or do activities (we probably will go half board but my eat out some nights)?

Any any other bits of wisdom for first timers would be gratefully receive also.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, we actually went to rauris in January last year when dd was 10 and ds was 5. The kids went with the karl maier ski school there. we paid extra for them to have lunch with them some days, and they loved it. It's a very small resort and quiet when we went, but if it's your first time then that probably won't be too much of an issue. there is also a toboggan run, which is fun. there's not a lot in the resort, but there is everything you need - a supermarket, bakery and a few shops and restaurants. If you're not staying near the lifts, you can leave your skis at the bottom of the gondola, which is also where the ski school and their ski hire is, although there are a couple of other ski hire places in resort. The nursery slope is also at the bottom of the gondola, so no lift pass needed for it.

Thanks Glued, that sounds reassuring. Quiet but nice. My brain needs stillness this year, so crowded chaos is not for us. And nursery slopes that handy sounds good for some extra practise.
