Childcare in Morzine

Hi - can anyone recommend childcare in Morzine for my 13 month old. We are heading out in January and I would like to book him in for a day or even have someone come to the Chalet. Recommendations would be really helpful as well as any other tips you might have on being in the resort with a baby.

Thanks so much.

I've always thought of Morzine as more of an adult resort rather than a family friendly one but haven't been there for a few years so my info maybe out of date.

Even in family friendly resorts I haven't heard of people who baby sit in the accommodation for daytime although you can find evening services. Are you renting the chalet ? If so you could ask the owners for recommendations. Some french resorts have 'maternelles' which offer places but care will be in french - check with the local tourist office.

It sounds as if you've already booked but IME getting the child care lined up alongside flights and accommodation is a necessity rather than after.

Cheeky Monkeys, Jack Frost both supply nannies to your chalet in the daytime. Can't recommend either as we haven't used them.

We used Jack Frosts, albeit in Champéry rather than Morzine, but we were very impressed by the quality of care that was given.

Thanks for the names, I'll try and google some reviews.

We used Morzine Kids and were really impressed with Helen. She's lovely, well qualified and the kids responded really well to her. I think Morzine is a great family resort - we would definitely go back with the kids.

Awesome thanks will check them out too.

Morzine is a famille plus resort so is very family friendly. Definitely not more of an adult resort Smile

We went when DS was 14 months and he went to the local crèche (garderie) L'Outa while we skied, on the recommendation of friends who left their babies there. It was lovely. My very sociable DS had a great time and is going back next year. It's very French though. I spoke French to them, not sure if anyone there speaks English.

For babies there's a nice pool complex with a baby pool. DS also loved sledging. We hired a sledge from felix ski (opposite L'Outa) and took him on the gentle baby slope behind the shop.
We ate in La Chamade one night and they made a real fuss of him in there. The lovely maître d' let him sit on the giant cow and then took him on a tour of the kitchen (I was a bit worried she wasn't going to give him back). Smile

Fab thanks, although my French is rubbish!

I've also found out there's a brand new pool complex.

Sledging is definitely going to be fun!

The website's in English:

www.outa-morzine.com/en

It says they only accept weekly bookings (6 days) but we booked 2 days with no problem. A week at the nursery works out much cheaper than 2 days with a nanny anyway, and nursery was preferable for DS as he likes the company of other children.

The pool was nice - definitely recommended. I love Morzine. Can't wait to go back. You'll have a great time Smile

Thanks so much for the link, that's really kind of you.

Looking forward to seeing the little guy in a cute snowsuit!
