Samoens - advice please

I am looking at a ski holiday in Samoens next year. How easy is it to get to Flaine (I'm a timid intermediate) as I read Flaine is pretty snow sure and Samoens seems quite low? So would most of the skiing be done over at Flaine?

It takes a bit of effort to get over to Flaine from Samoens, you couldn't do more than lunch and a few runs before having to head back, and it gets busy on the way home.

I love Samoens, and it has a really good ski area including Morillon and
Les Carroz for intermediate skiers. They have snow cannons, and my experience of the snow in a poor year was that it wasn't any worse than Flaine.

Ah ok. So we'd probably be using Morillon and les Carroz rather then Flaine. I was first put off as the piste map wasnt very clear and ir didnt look like was much for beginners/intermediates. However, I managed to find one I could zoom in on last night and there looks like theres more blues and greens than I originally thought,

Samoens is really pretty whereas Flaine is a concrete monstrosity! And I agree, Les Carroz is good for beginners/intermediates.

We have been to Samoens for the last 3 years and love it. A lovely quiet village and because its so low we are often sat outside in shorts and t-shirts in the afternoon.

The ski bus to the Grand Massif lift up to the top is excellent and run regularly.

Our kids do ski school and we bomb over to Flaine and back again in time to meet them.

I do am an intermediate skier and I find it fine getting to Flaine and back again. Hoping to even get the kids over to Flaine in the afternoons this year. There is one nasty tricky bit but even the better skiers have to slow down for it so everyone is in the same boat!

Great, thanks. Samoens is back on the list then. My husband is a good skier and can go for miles so he will want to go over to Flaine but he's not necessarily got to be back for the end of ski school every day. However, I don't need to go very far and will probably be very happy in Samoens/Les Carroz.
