Hi, starting to an our trip as need to go in school holidays for the first time, have w/c 7th April off so a month later than we normally go. DS will have just turned 5 and it will just be him, DH and I going as our usual group don't have kids so will be going in March as usual. Requirements are DIY or small TO as opposed to any of the big ones, regional flight to Geneva, max 1.5 to 2 hour transfer, catered accommodation (will be wierd sharing with strangers though as its always just been our group!). Smallish nice village with easy to get to ski school, ideally not at the top of a gondola! Other stuff for us and DS to do in the afternoons incase he won't want to ski all day. Have loved Morzine, Les Gets, and Chatel in the past so considering Avoriaz but seems mostly self catered. Also like Meribel this year so considering La Tania but found a lovely place in St Foy last night that looks like it could fit the bill other than the longer transfer. Any inspiration would be appreciated!

We love St Foy, though it is a good 2.5 hours from Geneva. It's a fairly easy drive though. It ticks all your boxes - smallish, ski school very easy to get to at the bottom of the lifts (though they take them up the lifts very quickly too as there is an easy slope down), very family friendly. Only issue is there isn't a huge heap to do other than ski; your accommodation may have access to a pool, and there is a (quite expensive) public one (10 euros each, only open afternoons), and you can sledge down next to one of the learner carpets, but really thats about it. The Pitchouli bar has a table football that is always popular in the afternoons with the kids! and there is always snowmen... The shops will take about 5 minutes to walk around!

We have been going for 10 years, pre-kids and now with DD and DS (7.75 and 6.25) who have been skiing since they were 2, but we go to a friends' chalet so have TV/games/many other amenable adults for sledging on tap!

Friends speak highly of Chalet Marigold, but I don't know about any other accommodation.

Thanks.

Did your friends stay at chalet Marigold recently? It's a chalet I like the look of but can't find any reviews on and the reviews on Snowcrazy who are currently running it are negative on chalets they run in other resorts, so any first hand information would be useful!
