Feel like I am going to be asking for the moon on a stick here, but... I'd like Powder Byrne service at a lower price, please!

I'm planning next year's half term ski holiday. It's a first for our family - I'm a passable skier and have been begging to go for years, but DH went skiing with school yonks ago somewhere nasty in the then-newly-opened-up Eastern Bloc and starved hated it. So I need to change his mind...

He's not a great flier so we're limited to resorts accessible from Salzburg or Geneva as our local airport flies to these, and we also need childcare and ski lessons for dcs aged 9, 7 and 3.

My ideal hotel or whatever would be half board, have a hot tub and be next to the slopes. There would also be ice skating nearby and horse/sleigh rides, sledging, with some sort of evening babysitting so we can get time alone.

Does this magical place exist? I had a look at the Kiderhotel Ellmauhof but am concerned the childcare will not be English speaking - 3 yo might not cope? www.ellmauhof.at/en-index.html

All suggestions welcome, with thanks.

Try one of the nicer properties offered by Esprit or Mark Warner instead?? Should be a bit cheaper and offer similar levels of service.

Good luck!

Try VIP ski?? Mark warner and esprit are good with kids, but accomodation nothing like powder byrne. Scott Dunn are amazing for service and nannies etc but you pay for it

Would suggest that you try Le Ski or Ski Famille. Ski Famille have chalets in Les Gets which is a lovely resort and might be worth a try. Run by a lovely chap called Chris. :-)

You don't say where you are flying from, but if your Dh hates flying, have you considered driving? it would give you more choice, and could save money.

Budget is difficult, because powder byrne are really top whack (and no ski trip is ever cheap).

i'd start by looking at the big ski companies and review their 'premium accomodation'. Choose a resort that looks right then see if there are any hotels/chalets you'd like to go to. Saas Fee has horse drawn carriages and is pedestrianised and very child friendly. But it is switzerland and therefore expensive (but may well have the facilities you hope for). [http://www.crystalski.co.uk/ski-resorts/switzerland-ski-holidays/saas-fee/hotel-schweizerhof;jsessionid=5A628FEBBC6B74597BE03DA2CD4B93B8.node3what about this?] there are lots of airports they fly from (this was the most expensive hotel they had int hat resort, there are others).
Snowbizz are on-slope accomodation, and there is a new sauna opened, with babysitting and children's clubs, but it is appartments with the option to be catered for in a restaurant. Esprit is probably in theline you are looking for, but i don't much like the idea of chalets so we have never used them.
