Ski Esprit with beginners aged 6 & 8 - good idea or not?

Calling all skiers with similar aged children. After 9 years without skiing, enough is enough and we are planning on blowing savings on ski holiday next season, possibly new year. DD is a bit wimpy unless spurred on by competition so needs to be with other children, hence chalet is essential. Is Ski Esprit just for little kids? Are we mad choosing Esprit? We want an easy life for our first trip and hope to go independent once DD & DS know how to ski.

We went with Esprit for our first trip with the kids (we had kids aged from 4 up to 11) and stayed in La Rosiere in one of the larger chalets so that the older girl would have the chance to meet other children. Have to say it was a great holiday especially for the younger ones. Skiing is virtually ski in - ski out whcih is a huge plus for the first experience. Food wasn't that great but the organisation etc for the childcare, getting kids to ski school, tea etc was perfect.

I haven't used ski esprit but I would say that whichever company you use, your children will be in age appropriate classes so will make friends and have company. I have only travelled with smaller companies and have found their accommodation and food to be brilliant as well as their childcare whereas I understand that with esprit you sometimes get great childcare at the expense of the food/ lodgings.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sure that the children will enjoy it - I'll be gutted if they don't!

try snowbizz if you want something cheaper but with all english kids in the classes. The lessons are great, they have an awards ceremony at the end and a kids club in the evening so they can go and play with their mates and the grown ups can chill out a bit too.

Not catered but then you don't have to share a chalet either!

Ski Esprit is BRILLIANT if you want to go skiing with children. I think your children are the perfect age to go. (Some people go with younger children and I think they are too young, they get too tired, it is such a palava getting all the kit on and off).

Go with Ski Esprit and you will all have a brilliant holiday. It's well worth the money. You all get to ski - have fun - and actually feel you've had a holiday at the end of it.

Have a look at Family Ski Company - we have always had excellent holidays with them with our kids (last year aged 4, 7 & 10) - great childcare for all age groups.
