I am having no luck getting my 11 year old into ski school for a week from 12th Feb in Val d@Isere .....if anyone else ifinds themselves in the same boat would you consider sharing the cost of getting a few hours per day with an instructor ...my daughter has only skied for one week and is a beginner who can do snow plough turns and manage the lifts etc

I looked at this last night and didn't reply because I haven't been to the resort. However I was a bit bemused that she couldn't get a place. I have skied a lot, mainly in high season and never had a problem getting ski school places-it never crossed my mind there would be a problem.
Are you sure that you are not just looking at one ski school? I googled it and it appears there are 19 ski schools!! I dare say they are not all for children, and some are probably just French speaking , but I would investigate further.

I've been to 9 companies...all full...its french holidays too apparently

It was here and said Val d'Isere has become a popular family ski resort due to its 19 ski schools and multitude of activities to keep children of all ages entertained I didn't read it so don't know how suitable.

exoticfruits · 19/01/2012 17:43

This might be a better place to start here. It mentions 18 ski schools.
Just a thought but I would have expected last minute cancellations-even when you get there DCs might be ill etc.

Have you tried oxygene, they're a big outfit and very good?

Or go onto the snow heads forum, on the snow report/conditions section there is a big thread that a bloke called Steve Angus posts on every day. Thread is called view from val d'isere. Steve is an instructor in val d'isere and very helpful, he might have some ideas.

Have you tried esf? Used them last year when oxygene, evolution and some if the others that are popular with Brits were full at half term. DC had great experience with them. Biggest ski school by far so loads of instructors and I only booked about 2 weeks before traveling. mainly French kids but instructor made real effort to explain everything in English

Riggerz - tourist board website has links to all the ski schools in resort or tel numbers if no website. English version of tourist board site also available
