Lift pass prices

Does anyone know whether a family discount price would only apply to children up to the age of 11?
In the resort we were at last year, it applied to children up to 17 if you bought in resort. Never saw that offer mentioned on line though. Going to a different place this year and can't find anything to say about ages, other than children's individual passes apply up to age 11.
Oh and I gather there's going to be a tax increase on Jan 1st as well!

Where are you going? At least which country?

Risoul, France. (Southern Alps)

It entirely depends, where we are now (sainte foy) kids are free!

LIZS · 18/12/2011 18:28

Will check when we locate a piste map but think kids prices applied up to 11(inclusive)

I love Sainte Foy, we have been the last two years and the lift passes were reasonable. There was even a deal on the Sunday ticket. We are going to La Rosiere this year but think it is a lot more expensive.

Not sure. We may be going to Risoul shortly, so if I notice, I will let you know (The webcam looks FAB today!!) You usually need passports etc, and from what I can recall, it was free for 5 year olds, but not that cheap for 6 year olds - not sure when a child turns into an adult for lift pass purposes.

clam · 19/12/2011 13:48

Thanks fedup. I know that the individual passes you buy for kids at the booths are for up to 11 incl. It's whether or not the family pass (2 adults and 2 children, for instance) is the same, because in Les Orres last year it went up to 17 year olds and was massively cheaper therefore for us with a 12 and 14 year old. Also, they specify a student rate, but someone said that that was only for college/university students. Seems a bit stupid that 12-16s pay the full adult price, yet there's then a reduction for 17 plus.

Anything you glean once there would be fab.

Found the piste map but sorry, no lift pass info on it at all.

clam · 20/12/2011 13:11

Thanks for looking. May try calling the Tourist Information Office in the resort.
Or I could stop being such a cheapskate looking for a bargain and just pay whatever when we get there. Not sure it's a good idea to buy in advance anyway, as DH has a seriously dodgy knee and might not be needing a pass at all!

Tourist office was hopeless in the summer. We asked if lifts were open on tuesdays, as the day they were there the lifts were shut. They said "yes, they work on Tuesdays" but forget to tell us that it was the end of the season, so no they weren't going to be working.

So DH cycled up to the top of Razis so he could cycle downhill to Embrun....I didn't!
