Do people really book a whole year in advance?
Is it even possible?
We are tied to half term and missed out for Europe this year

Good question! There are bargains to be had by waiting, but tbh if you have specific reqs (I wanna go high, have ski-in, ski-out and covered parking Grin) may as well book & then just forget about it it.

We usually leave it until last minute (ie month or so before) but this year managed to get a total bargain by booking 6 days before. Not half term though. Imagine if you want a package with the big companies then you will need to book early.

we book a year in advance if we know we can get the holiday off because then we can get what we want. (ie we are not a conventional 2+2 family flying from london).
Half term is very busy, so if i know i was going i would definatly book then, if i knew where i wanted to go. however, if i was a conventional family and didn't need childcare/child lessons especially i might wait for the bargains and to see where the snow went - for example don't you wish you could go to jackson hole next week?
i can't wait to be able to do spur of the moment holidays again!

I don't like Feb half term skiing...but if I did - or was tied to it, I think I would book very early. We have a little place in the Alps and so although we can go when we want, still worth booking ages in advance if you want cheap flights. We may go at Easter, not sorted yet, and so if we do, we will be putting car on the ferry as flights are now extortionate, and hire car not cheap either!

We used to book accommodation a full year in advance direct with hotel . We got the better South facing family rooms that way and didn't have to pay a deposit until the late Autumn.

Thanks

If you're tied to half term, and know the resort/accommodation you want, then book as early as you can. Ditto flights as they simply fill up.

Thank you
Not sure where we want to go but definitely stuck with half term week

We book our flights as soon as they are released (BA one year in advance) and book direct with the hotel about 6 months before our stay.

thanks, I will have to do some investigating

We have to take holidays term time too, so it's better to book in advance, you do get better deals. Just booked for Christmas this year. i have a fantastic travel agent, who was really patient.

The place I was staying at half term last week was already nearly full for the following year when I was there. We had booked the holiday last May and were squeezed in to overflow accomadation. Book as early as possible and see if there are any early booking offers to be had.

Thanks, the prices are still eye watering!
