Esprit first-timer. WTF do the little monsters wear?

We're only taking one little monster with us (DD2, 5). So she'll be in the Sprite Beginners/Snow club. Can't remember which is am and which is pm, but let's assume it's ski in the morning and run amok in the afternoon. Can someone talk me through what she'll be expected to bring/wear at each stage? I'm looking at the small rucksack I've bought for her and the small suitcase we are wanting to pack and the VAST amount of clothes she might possibly need each day and I'm starting to get quite nervous. Confused Can somebody tell me how it all works in practice?

I took a ski suit, ski jacket, hat, ski mitts, thin fleece, ski socks, goggles, thermal underwear and a couple of sets of normal clothes for my DS and PJs.

That was it :)

How did it work during the day LB? I mean, if I pack her off in thermals, ski gear and boots for a morning lesson, what does she wear in the afternoon and does she have to carry it all with her?

My DS just wore his ski stuff all day long (it was pretty cold). He didn't ski much (he's only 3), spent most of the day playing and he wasn't at ski school. I did see the Esprit people bringing the kids back in the afternoon and they had snow boots on and were carrying their skis boots on their hands.

I'm sure they will tell you what she needs to take when you get there :)

She will probably run around in thermals, ski socks and whatever she has on top half. Or at least my DCs do and that seems par for the course ime.

You could always pack something like jeans and a tee for her to change in to but hopefully they will get more outdoor play even during snow club so not much point in that, IMO.

Our DCs used to leave a backpack in the creche before lessons with: spare socks & pants ( you never know.....particularly with the extreme cold), a favourite ted, slippers, tissues, snack.

We leave for les arcs tomorrow and my DC have packed 3 non- ski outfits plus an assortment of ski wear.

I think half my job will be convincing her that eg "favorite ted" does not mean her ENORMOUS cuddly red dragon, which would take up her entire luggage allowance on its own!

And labelling everything of course. It's as bad as starting school! I never thought I'd be grateful that DD2's school are such label-nazis - but I can sew a label into a pair of socks in about 30 seconds now. Grin

OK, let's see if I've got this right...

She needs to be delivered to them in ski gear and snow boots. Ski gear comprises thermals, thin fleece, scarf/choob, hat that will fit under helmet, gloves-on-a-string, goggles round neck, salopettes, ski jacket. They will shovel her in and out of ski boots and helmet. Should be carrying a rucksack, containing spare socks, pants, gloves, teddy (the smaller the better), snack, tissues, slippers.

Possibly I should have bought a larger rucksack. Hmm

Where does the "snack" come from, in practice? Is it an apple grabbed from the buffet at breakfast, or something bought in the village, or do you have to half-fill your suitcase with boxes of raisins?

You'll have to see when you get there. We had to deliver our child in thermals/top, and they kept her ski gear downstairs in the creche (it was skiing in the afternoon, creche was in the building in which we stayed). They got her dressed to go out. She didn't need a rucksack at all as she had a basket in the creche. Slippers lived down there.

Snack was just a small chocolate bar or two (mini mars bars). They need quick energy and to be warm, so not apples. Take a few bits with you, get the rest in the supermarket when you are there.

I wouldn't give her a teddy to take to spritelets. The creche can be quite chaotic and it may get lost. She'll be so busy I can't imagine she'd really need one.
