tips for 9 month old during 3.5 hr coach transfer

I booked our family ski holiday last February before the arrival of my energetic, lovely 9 month old DS. We are going to La Plagne and I've now been informed by SkiLine that we are flying into Grenoble (which means a 3.5 hr coach transfer). I'm already starting to dread the trip and dreaming of private transfers, etc.. Any thoughts/tips on how to handle the coach transfer would be much appreciated...

He will have his own seat, but no carseat. I'm wondering if we should book a private transfer purely for that reason. But it is £500 pounds Shock Also, I assume he will be crawling by then. How the heck am I supposed to occupy a 9 moth old for that long. Hopefully he'll nap

Thanks!

Couldn't you take your carseat? Most airlines will take them on top of your luggage allowance, in the same way as they will a buggy?

I took that rear facing seat in similar circs - much safer on the coach and easier to control your baby, and at that age they are nearly into the next stage seat so I was less worried about it being bumped or damaged in transit.

The alternative is to put him in a baby carrier so he's strapped to you, but he might be a bit big for that.

It is likely he'll sleep, as flying and the coach journey will be tiring. And lots of little snacks and treat if he's awake!

Thanks. We could take our carseat. Is it safe to assume that the coach will have seatbelts to strap it to?

Likely to be lap belts, but I sat and held on to the carry handle. Felt much safer than having a baby crawling around the seat and across the aisle. I also kept the hood on my seat so it created a bit more of a cocoon - from noise and light as well as an extra layer if there had been an accident.

Are you sure he'll be allocated a seat on the bus - ds wasn't at a year. Is there a train which will take you near enough to the resort to do the last bit by bus/taxi ?

The company has told me that he is definitely allocated a seat. So there is some comfort there. I don't think that there is a train from Grenoble to anywhere near La Plagne but if anyone knows differently please let me know. Arghh, I'm getting stressed already. I should just calm down - it's only a few hours.... Thanks for all of the comments

my only tip is do not put spare clothes into the bag you intend to use if the child vomits....it's not pretty.

take 2 bags!

Don't suppose they can offer travel via eurostar ski train?

It would be possible to get from grenoble to aime la plagne by train but would involve a change in Lyon.
