MNHQ, a word in your shell-like please - about these pro-BNP threads... consider this a petition

hasn't this gone far enough? these threads are being allowed to stand which considering the "policies" of the BNP and the views expressed by "activists" is appalling. yes, free speech is wonderful, but some of these threads can be seen as inciting racial hatred, there are many, many, disablist, homophobic, racist remarks made and implied and they always go the same way. the threads are started to cause a bunfight. the BNP will not get anymore supporters on here, so why be deliberately controversial?

mn is a self-moderated site. this is great and one of the reasons i use it. however, the mners are now moderating and saying that we have had enough. we have complained a LOT about this type of thing - please take note!

I have never denied that I have been on the edge for ages now...(and I don't just mean with my MN membership...ha ha)

My 3 months in solitary, (that is the music section)....was my idea...nothing to do with MNHQ.....I'll go and bore them all to tears with my love of 80's disco music...I'm sure they can't wait.!

um, shreikingharpy, i have used mn for 4y and am perfectly aware of what it is and isnt. the aim of this thread was to try to get mnhq to tackle something that has been a huge problem. if you read the thread (always a good idea if you are going to accuse someone of being orwellian and a facist) you will see that ONE post and ONE type of thread has been causing MANY other posters great distress, to the point whereby some have left after being bullied out, and others feel unable to post their concerns about their children/lives. how is this right?

i have NOT demanded that dp or anyone else be banned, merely asked (as have many other posters) that MNHQ take our multiple complaints seriously. there are things that are just not appropriate to post/say. and that is a fact. so, take yourself off and read the thread, theres a dear and then you might know what you are talking about. i take it you have never been on the recieving end of one of the threads/posts/comments we are discussing! you may feel very differently if you had.

Of course any posts which specifically incite hatred (which I define as a call to do something horrible to someone, which is outside the law, or spreading malicious untrue rumours , for e.g), or insult and individual, or contain racist or homophobic or disablist insults, should be deleted. And maybe there should be some sort of traffic light system for posters who repeatedly do this. MN is very clear about personal abuse etc.

But being a supporter of a party with repellant policies and then justifying that when challenged doesn't transgress that bill.

DP does not modify her views in response to debate or challenge, her arguments are based on 'because that's how I feel / think' not intellectual thought.

I have been in numerous threads debating her attitude to homosexuality, but will do so no more - it's engaging with it that causes the problem. She does have a right to voice her opinions and beliefs (within the MN philosophy), just ignore!

(I am the parent of a mixed race child with a disability...if it makes any difference)

There's a good quote from someone fampous about it reflecting on people who choose to apend time arguing with....well I won't say what I think it says as it might constitute personal abuse
