Rebranding of Mumsnet. Your thoughts on our new cat's bum face logo?

Swedington · 06/01/2010 12:16

We employed a focus group and a rebranding team at a digital agency and they've suggested we replace our current logo with a cat's bum face logo. The Mumsnet typeface would remain the same.

So what do you think, Mumsnetters? Does the cat's bum face better suit our general disapproval and joylessness or shall we stick with what we've got?

ANd the face and biscuit emoticons are a bit last century. We need a series of cats' sphincters emoticons, displaying varying degrees of uptightness.

This thread is in poor taste and should be banned.

I am going to start a campaign.

Swedington - I was just wandering over here to suggest that we get a cats bum emoticon. Thing of how much time it would save. AIBU would collapse under the sheer weight of them all

Could we have a lolcat's bum face for sourness expressed with humour?

Can I make a plea for the dog's bum face? My dog has a particularly conspicuous and unattractive bottom and I don't understand why cats' bums get all the plaudits.

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/01/2010 16:51

When we got our cats, the male one had a problem in that one of his testicles was undescended. This is a serious issue in cats as they can become cancerous.

When we took him in to be 'done', if it hadn't descended they would have had to operate. (Think £££££ at this point!). We came back to collect him, and the vet told us that it had descended, and that the cat had one of the finest pairs of testicles he had ever seen. Which he had then chopped off ...

As you were!

Swedington · 07/01/2010 17:06

I reckon the vet had a side business in testicle taxidermy.

He probably sold bollocks off in job lots to Beta advertising agency.

BecauseImGarry · 07/01/2010 17:09

Do think he keeps them somewhere in his surgery, on show?

Maybe he uses them in his desk toy - you know - the one with the balls that swing from side to side?

fruitshootsandheaves · 07/01/2010 17:12

catsbum

JackieNo · 07/01/2010 17:13

I reckon he made them into a very small bottle opener (warning - link probably not suitable for work, though it is an actual product, it seems!)

Swedington · 07/01/2010 17:19

Perhaps he wanted to fashion a Neuton's Cradle

BecauseImGarry · 07/01/2010 17:23

2 and a half cats' worth on that though. He will have one left over.

dearprudence · 07/01/2010 23:11

Agree with JackBauer, we need a judgey smiley with a wig on.

Dawnybabe · 07/01/2010 23:29

Does anyone remember reading George's Marvellous Medicine where it said his granny had a puckered up mouth like a dog's bottom? I've seen that, it's a good description of old lady mouth-pursing.

Swedington · 08/01/2010 10:25

I think we should produce Mumsnet catsbumface certificates and send them to institutions, manufacturers and companies who make parents' lives more difficult.

We could have sent a mumsnetter to OAA to register widespread disapproval at that ill advised advertising campaign.

Oh please can we do Mumsnet catsbumface, Justine?

Well we thinking of doing an annual awards thing based on our reviews so maybe we can incorporate some wooden spoons... not sure a Catsbum is quite right though... can we not think of something more mumsnetty - rather than petsnetty?
