Would this be considered advertising if we started one?

Only I think it might be good.

I think it has the potential to encourage free advertising (especially as its so easy to name change on here)
I won a shop which is in a very similar vein. Obviously I would not mis-use such a thread , I'm over-the-top honest (and in the middle of nowhere in rural Ireland, and very much doubt there is anyone from MN anywhere near me).
It would be very easy for me to start a thread and add a comment or 2 to it every day under different user names. Like I say, I wouldn't do it, but I suspect some people might (perhaps I'm getting cynical in my old age!)

Hi Hecate and KnickKnack. Nice idea (thank you!) but I think you may be right that it could turn into an advertising thread.

I will consult the powers-that-be about it in the morning, though.

Fair point. I don't own a farm in case you were wondering , but so many people seem to not know where you can get meat/potatoes/eggs etc straight from a farm, but sound like they would like to shop that way if they could, that I thought it might be helpful.

Hecate: Word from the powers-that-be...

Your Mumsnet Local may be a good place to find/make farm shop recommendations.

But you are very welcome to start a thread on the main boards if you'd like to. And, with your help , we'll just have to keep an eye on any pesky people who try to advertise for free.

I think its possible that farm shops and similar tend to be small/local/independent own business...not big multinationals.
So on second thoughts it may be no bad thing to point new customers in their direction... win-win situation in these economic times I guess.
I could be completely wrong and you have a different kettle of fish farm shop in UK

ooh, goodie thanks.
