No.

bunnyrabbit · 11/03/2009 15:46

Just interested to know why everyone is so against this?

I find myself typing this quite a lot and have seen others type it too...

Mumsnet has never been a place of hugs, huns and outpourings of girlish affection.

I suppose there's the very odd occasion when it might be justified to offer a hug but you can be sure that if there was an emoticon dedicated to it, it would be abused terribly everytime Babycentre crashed.

BennyAndJoon · 11/03/2009 15:53

FFs NO

roffle at FairMidden (good name)

bunnyrabbit · 11/03/2009 15:54

I didn't realise that giving someone a virtual hug was an outpouring of girlish affection. Nor did I realise that the rest of the emoticons were sparingly and appropriately used accoring to the rules of emoticon usage.

I stand corrected and will be very careful when offering sympathy and support to people in future as mumsnet is not the place for such things.

I will also be careful to keep my opinions to myself

My apologies.

Sorry BunnyRabbit, we're all men here so we only dole out firm handshakes.

bunnyrabbit · 11/03/2009 15:56

But you're not averse to name chaging....

Dear God no.

Ledodgy · 11/03/2009 15:57

Bunny you know we give support on here but just don't do hugs unless really required. This way it makes them more special.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 11/03/2009 15:58

I think we should have a leer emoticon.

And change our name to Mansnet.

Fimbo · 11/03/2009 15:59

Feeks. No.

And no tickers either.

Ledodgy · 11/03/2009 16:00

Bunny are you the same Bunny that posted loads and loads of multiple threads once? That was hilarious. I haven't seen you around for a while.

Ledodgy · 11/03/2009 16:00

*I should have added when your computer was playing up to that sentence.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 11/03/2009 16:01

We are very manly in our hugging, aren't we?

It's very much of the "awkward, two men hugging with much bashing of backs" type hugging, that only occurs when something major has happened.

hatwoman · 11/03/2009 16:01

bunyrabbit - I think people fear the slippery slope to soppymumsRus.net. with lots of pink and banners and tickers. [shudder]. (now that's a candidate for a new emoticon)

UnquietDad · 11/03/2009 16:01

How about a vomit one?

^^^

OOOOOOO
UUUUUUUU
bunnyrabbit · 11/03/2009 16:02

Fine ledodgy, but I?ve obviously been sheltered in my use of mumsnet over the past 6 years as I was not expecting quite such a violent/patronising response?.. a simple " we're not sure we like the idea as it will probably get over used" would probably have sufficed.

And as for girlie.. this I must show to DH..... oh and the manly handshake... lol

OP posts:
YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 11/03/2009 16:04

Am amazed you've been here six years and not noticed the general feeling about hugging

SoupDragon · 11/03/2009 16:04

Who would have thought the top image result for hun would be this
