What does - and most definitely doesn't - add up to a mother's day to remember in your book? Please can you share your wishlists, highs, lows, most inappropriate card, gift, comment... Thank you

No unfortunately Red. I even had to buy my own Christmas card for mum and dad from mum and dad as dad is terminal and they can't get out. Mind you, I have told mum that I refuse to buy my own birthday card(in a jokey way), but she'll have forgotten by now.

Ruby, you are right of course. Unfortunately, I'm the only single parent I know.

My Ds is 10, but I really don't want to be handing over money or hints to him to do something for me.
Maybe he'll surprise me? Time will tell.

A 99p bunch of daffodils is far superior to any flowers you can buy in a service station.

I would love to sit on the sofa watching a Doris day film under a quilt with Ds next to me! Unlikely

Anything hand made, however mangled, does it for me.
And a tray of stone cold toast cut wonkily with marmite an inch thick is also good.
I have come to accept that having some time to myself won't happen and that's OK - I'd rather hang out with ds and dh anyway!
Nice bath with candles in the evening scores highly as does coming downstairs wrapped in warm towels and finding dh's speciality chilli supper on the table.

Don't buy a card, flowers etc.

Do make a card, own present.

It means so much more than shop bought stuff.

Dont buy your dw a tacky fairy for the garden and before you give it her drop it and then superglue the wings on upside down .

Daffodils works for me. Afternoon in a garden centre for Mum and me with coffee and a cake in the cafe

Was talking to my friend today who has two Dc's. She has a live in partner(not the Dc's dad, but he's the reason I didn't consider doing this with her before)so not technically a single mum, but apparently he doesn't do cards etc and hasn't a clue as regards gifts. The exh wont bother because he's an arse, so I suggested we each get a card and small gift for each others Dc's to give and she was thrilled with the idea, so that's what we are going to do! Thanks for the idea R and R!
Now to find something nice and wanted for a fiver!
