Despite the stuff that has been going on in your mind, what makes you think mumsnet is still fab?

for me:

  1. Mile for Maude was the first big thing I got involved in, was amazed by the universal rallying around

  2. Christmas gifts / secret santa always wamrs my heart

  3. I have had many laughs here, I set the whole office in hysterics (they are mumsnetters, just not regulars) with the gaffes are work thread, me and a friend were crying with laughter and unable to answer the phones for a good while.

  4. the way you can ask any question, even if it has been asked a million times before, and still get an answer

  5. the support for the posters who have lost somebody, despite the crappyness that goes on, there are always people around to lend an ear, post a friend word, offer some advice and be there

Mumsnetters - I thank you long may it continue

Definitely the first two. Also the fact that you can get an answer to nearly ANY question (apart from when the white stuff sale will start ) on here. I was having a 'risotto crisis' a few nights ago - came on with an urgent question and had help within minutes..FAB!

Because tiredemma solved my Xmas preset for ds2 problem by selling me a very fab 2nd hand skateboard.

And loads of other things.

You just have not to take it too seriously....

constancereader · 23/12/2008 22:12

The support you get with parenting worries.

I have successfully bf my second child thanks to information gleaned from this site.

Lots of you are very funny too.

southeastastra oh you make it great to, cos you are so funny

My first threads on here were discussing how/when to get rid of dummies.

8.5 years later I am still here. My current fave threads are swapping stories with others whose eldest has just started secondary school.

Mumsnet in "the good old days" was tiny and nice and cosey and polite, and there were some advantages with all that. But for me the massive benefits are the size of it.

It doesn't matter what is your question, query, experience, situation - there are others on here to share it. Not only those who have an opinion, but also those who have been through it, survived, and come out the other side to tell the tale.

PS I also love the sharp wits and humour: especially Morningpaper.

The amazing support offered to those with relationship problems, bereaved and going through illness, miscarriage or depression. It is fantastic.
The funny threads that make me laugh out loud.
Pushchair Chat is my cosy sofa and cup of cocoa.
People willing to trawl t'net looking for hippy dresses for me.

GoodWilfToAllMN · 23/12/2008 22:35

People (sometimes) laugh at my jokes here, unlike at home

I can find out ANYTHING. It is better than Google by a country mile

I am touched by the levels of kindness offered to complete strangers

I love the fact you can admit to odd crushes and nobody thinks you're weird.

And the nice warm glow you get the first time somebody posts after you saying "I totally agree with elf"

ah, s'alright.

arse lickers.

reindeercantdancethetango · 24/12/2008 00:06

I love the humour and the support. One thread can have me in tears and another in hysterics. When you've had a bad day nothing beats a cuppa and MN.

BitOfFunUnderTheMistletoe · 24/12/2008 00:09

Hehehe Elf, I am liking that reason!

Custy, hope you are cheering up- I think you are fab, even if that sounds arse-licky

TinselianAstra · 24/12/2008 00:09

Because people don't mind when you ask a silly question.

And they almost always reply in sentences, with punctuation and everything!

Tortington · 24/12/2008 00:11

my arse i always open
