Can they go in alphabetical order?

I know they sort of do. But they go in alphabetical order after they've already been sorted out by % score.

So... if I want to find how to make a souffle for instance, I have to scroll down loads and loads - ok, I can just look at the Ss but twould be much easier to find if I could just go to the Ss all together. iykwim.

And does anyone know how to make potato cakes?

I mean recipes up there ^ btw, not normal posting topic recipes...

alphabetical order of chief ingredient squonk, surely.

Aero · 08/07/2008 17:13

I was just thinking the same thing squonk. Would make it easier to use I think. Good suggestion.

fryalot · 08/07/2008 17:14

chief ingredient or name of thing.

So lemon drizzle cake would come under L for lemon, not C for cake, but chips would come under C for chips, not P for potato

I think.

er mash potato

dip in flour

chill

fry

fryalot · 08/07/2008 17:14

oh and can you do it before my ham cooks?

OP posts:
fryalot · 08/07/2008 17:15

is that it bundle? just mash dipped in flour? no onions or herbs or flour in the mash?

cool!

OP posts:
Bundle · 08/07/2008 17:15

I wouldn't - onions?

Bundle · 08/07/2008 17:16

season, yes

fryalot · 08/07/2008 17:17

okay fab

but my suggestion for a revamp of the recipe bit up there ^ is still valid, even though the fab bundle has solved my immediate problem

UnderRated · 08/07/2008 17:18

I was going to ask this too (alphabetical order not potato cakes)

Bundle · 08/07/2008 17:19

i think the key is they should be a bit bland, it's the starchy texture mixed with the crunch on the fried edges that makes them delish

they're fab with beans!

Carmenere · 08/07/2008 17:20

But you can search by ingredients can't you? So if you want to find a soufle you type in soufle or cheese soufle or whatever. No?

Bundle · 08/07/2008 17:21

btw, there's some good recipes on riverford.co.uk where i get my vegbox from

fryalot · 08/07/2008 17:21

so you can, carmenere... never knew you could do that!

but for browsing...

UnderRated · 08/07/2008 17:40

Yes, for browsing. I'm totally with you Squonk.

But maybe I'm just lazy...

450g (1lb) Potatoes
110g (4oz) Plain Flour
50g (2oz) Butter
1 tsp Salt
Pinch Pepper
Butter or Bacon Fat (Optional)

Wash and scrub the potatoes, but don't peel.
Boil in lightly salted boiling water until tender.
Drain and set aside in the hot saucepan to "dry in their steam".
Allow to cool slightly, peel the potatoes.
Mash the potatoes to a smooth consistency, ensuring that there are no lumps.
Season with salt and freshly ground pepper and pour in the melted butter.
Add enough flour to make a pliable and easily manageable dough.
Knead gently to combine.
Roll out on a lightly floured board to form a round of about ¼-½ inch thickness.
Cut the round into triangles, or make small individual round cakes using a biscuit cutter.
Cook on a hot dry griddle or dry frying pan until both sides are golden brown.
The cakes can also be fried in a hot pan in butter or bacon fat.
