Should MNHQ promote the NHS misogyny petition more prominently?

I have just signed this petition having seen it on another thread. Why is it not posted more prominently on this site? Surely MNHQ could link to it more widely.
I had a horrendous experience recently that could have cost me my life. I am certain it was due to ingrained misogyny in the NHS. I could spend my time posting the link on numerous threads, but perhaps there is a quicker way?

I have just noticed the tiny message on the home page. Maybe that could be made bigger?

I’m signing this now thanks to your thread! So no, it’s not prominent enough.

Meadowfinch · 04/06/2026 12:52

I thought about signing it.

I had a horrendous experience with a GP insisting there was nothing wrong with me repeatedly over about 6 months, culminating in an emergency admission to women's surgical at 3am with a raging abdo infection, to have a twisted ovarian dermoid removed.

I nearly died. spent a week in recovery and another 7 weeks off sick. But it was the NHS, a brilliant (male) A&E surgeon who came in at 4am to help me, and the anesthetist, and theatre nurses who saved my life.

It wasn't the NHS that was misogynistic, it was a specific incompetent, arrogant tosser GP who told me I was a woman of a certain age seeking attention.🙄 Like he should be so lucky!!

So I don't want the NHS blamed, without them, I wouldn't be here.

The link to it is right at the top of the screen when I log in.

Yes, I agree.

I only found it yesterday because of a link on another thread.

Not if you’re on the app though. I’m sure many users are oblivious of petitions on MN.

The people who are already not misogynistic are not the targets, the ones that are need the training. Like safeguarding training, you have to train everyone.

Ah - I'm on the desktop version.

I'm just glad I saw the small tab at the top. Duly signed. Thanks MN.

Thanks for flagging this, OP, we've been promoting it in various ways but we're obviously keen to get as many signatures as possible so we do appreciate your suggestions for making it more prominent and we'll give it some thought.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience and hope you are fully recovered now.

Sadly, my mum experienced something akin to this with her young male GP. She went back repeatedly with different symptoms and pain that was debilitating. She was in tears many times trying to be heard. She was told the pain must be in her head when strong painkillers weren't touching the pain and it was suggested she join some sort of group that deal in 'pain management'.

Turns out she has serious issues with her pancreas and was admitted to hospital in the middle of the night after having a heart attack and a stroke.

Mum now has to have 24/7 care, has little mobility and has a catheter. She once held down 2 jobs while managing 5 kids. Even to this day, one of her conditions has been mismanaged which meant she was without vital medication for an extended period. Everyone passing the buck about who should have been on top of this.

She is a prisoner in her own head and home these days and just wants to end her life. It is desperately sad and needless.
