Is anyone else fed up of the weird AI posts about "trends"?

There have been a spate of these recently, about a variety of different subjects (started out about relationships but have branched out to other things), where a poster with either the MN-generated three word username or a would-be pithy username based around the subject talks critically about some slightly bizarre behaviour, or frames something in a bizarre way (because it's not written by a person). When challenged, they often respond stating that they haven't personally experienced this, but it's a trend they've noticed.

The posts all have that annoying, patronising AI tone, with the typical Chat GPT cadence. The end paragraphs go something like this, usually with a bit about "it's this, not that" or "less this, more that":

"Using AI to start discussions might be the way of the future, but sometimes it's better to follow the traditions of the past. AIBU to think people come onto mumsnet seeking human interaction, not inhuman interference? This isn't a TAAT, it's a thread about a trend—and that really is worth discussing."

I think they should sod off and stop training bots or whatever it is they're doing on mumsnet. Are those kinds of engagement-farming posts allowed?

Hi @EligibleTern

Thanks for asking about this.

We’re generally fine with established members of the site using AI as a writing aid. For brand-new accounts we tend to be a bit more cautious at first, just until there’s a sense of genuine engagement with other Mumsnetters.

As ever, if you have concerns about a thread please report it to us so we can check things out behind the scenes.
