Do we have to? It’s quite off-putting. Also they are ridiculously expensive and look uncomfortable imo

OP posts:
youegg · 15/12/2025 07:38

and I’m getting ads for a game that is just pics of hunting rifles. So inappropriate.

Notmyreality · 15/12/2025 07:41

Crotchless pants - offputting and I don’t want to see it. Ok.

Also ridiculously expensive and uncomfortable - wtf?!

I doubt comfort is the main design consideration. I don't think they are meant to be worn for very long.

HebeMumsnet · 15/12/2025 11:27

Morning, everyone. We understand if people would rather not click on these ads but if anyone is able to send us the urls for them, that will help us track them down more quickly.

Otherwise a screenshot would be really helpful, too, and any other info such as the name of the company, if it's visible.

Many thanks.

I have seen the NHS advert with the snot nosed child SO many times I am sick of it - it’s gross!

Mochudubh · 15/12/2025 12:01

I can't be the only person who scrolls MN on their breaks at work (with permission) and suddenly an Anne Summers ad pops up! I click off the site when that happens so counter-productive, surely.

Supporterofwomensrights · 15/12/2025 12:04

I don't love the Ann Summers ads either.

@HebeMumsnet You mentioned URLs, does this mean you can't control who advertises on your site?

Yep. Me too. Awful, completely inappropriate for this site.

One second it's Puffin books for kids, the next it's a woman with a bootlace between her bum cheeks.

Would raise a few eyebrows if spotted across the office or by someone passing by the window so I guess I'll have to leave MN for after hours and stick to browsing the "middle of Lidl" deals on my break.

I've always got the ann summers ads on mine. Sick of seeing them 😤

PuppyMonkey · 15/12/2025 16:55

Help you track them down? Don’t you have any say in the adverts that pop up @HebeMumsnet ? Confused

That’s the one. It was on the Bondi shootings threads as well. Inappropriate. Offensive. Totally hideous.

TheWibble · 15/12/2025 23:35

I had one for some kind of porn/sex site yesterday. It's definitely not my algorithm and I live alone, so no one has been looking at that kind of stuff from my internet connection.

JoyintheMorning · 23/12/2025 15:07

Perhaps Mumsnet could keep the Ann Summers arse series to the sex group.
It is off putting that it comes up in Christmas where we might be looking with children.
But it would slow down earning the next £million I suppose.

All these will be ads served via Google Ads, not the advertisers who have bought ad space on Mumsnet itself. It's a marketplace for ads. You can tell it's Google Ads by the little blue triangle you can click on. You'll get them more often in quieter times.

Mumsnet can deny certain sites, or types of ad.

I've just seen this

OMG this is disgusting

Is there any way it can be got rid of? Makes me feel quite unwell. I suspect that's the point. But I don't have kids so why am I being subjected to this?

Honestly, I'd prefer the crotchless pants!

I am sick of seeing it on every few posts. Feels like I have seen it MORE since I commented on this thread!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 24/12/2025 08:41

I’ve posted about the crotchless pants!

I now have crotchless pants with a strap that leads to a neck band. The kind of thing Kanye’s missus would wear to Tesco.

sick of them.

Mysteriously MNHQ Tech dept (the part time work experience lad/lass, presumably) can NEVER ‘replicate’ the problems everyone else has with the adverts for guns, sex clothes, and bloody gambling.

And that’s why I moved to the free DuckDuckGo browser app - all the ads are stripped out. Give it a go. It’s a free download.

HereForTheFreeLunch · 24/12/2025 08:45

Is it just MN? I thought all adds were from Google anyway. My theory is that if you refuse all cookies they serve you up the most disgusting adds possible.

Exactly, cant the tech people just sign up for an account like everyone else and witness the adverts first hand like we do?

And I seem to remember Mumsnet asking us not to download the ad blocker type things as they lose money when we use them.

But @HebeMumsnet if it means I don’t have to see Ann Summers adverts with peoples arses hanging out when I’m reading threads about women distressed by cheating, divorce, illness etc then I might have to download one.

And again, it’s only this website I ever see these problems on.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 27/12/2025 09:12

They’ve got worse since this thread.

Just constant crotchless pants. I don’t want to see these when l first wake up.

daisychain01 · 27/12/2025 20:19

Just been regaled with the Ann Summers + 10% off Sex Toys ad.

why do we have to put up with this on a parenting site ffs.

not wanted. Why can't your staff sign up for a test account and do your own research so you know first hand what you're flogging on here, rather than us having to do the legwork for you.

KellyMumsnet · 29/12/2025 09:54

Morning, everyone. @BeckyAMumsnet has answered some of these questions on another similar thread this morning. Here's what she said:

"We're looking into these ads today and will report back ASAP. We've blocked similar ads in the past but when this happens, the ad is blocked at the level of that particular creative. Advertisers often upload multiple near-identical versions, which means something that looks the same can reappear until it’s flagged again.
Lingerie advertising in itself isn’t inappropriate for Mumsnet. We do block ads that show nudity or explicit sexual content, but models wearing lingerie whether the racier kind or the more industrial type, fall within what we allow on the site.
We also can’t reliably see the same ads you see. Ads served programmatically vary by device, browser, location and timing, so asking for a URL, advertiser name or screenshot is genuinely the quickest way for us to identify and deal with a specific ad.
If you see an ad that you think doesn't belong here, please report it with whatever identifying detail you can. If you'd rather not post on the boards, then please email us at [email protected]"
