Can we have a Care or Flowers reaction for those posts where you want to share that you hear the poster, and you just want to send a virtual hug

OP posts:

The love covers this surely

HebeMumsnet · 27/08/2025 10:01

Hi @FishingForest. Thanks for getting in touch. We'll pass your thoughts on.

If anyone else would like to see something like this or has any other thoughts about it, let us know here and we'll keep checking in on the thread.

bring back the laughing emoji - please

I use ❤️ to cover this, but sometimes it doesn't quite feel right. It's intended to convey sympathy / acknowledge heartbreak / I'm keeping you in my thoughts etc.... but I worry it's being read as "love this post".

I guess you can't have endless reaction options though...

Doggymummar · 27/08/2025 14:29

Oh used i use the heart for sending my love, not love thic

Yes, Sending love ❤️ is a better description of how I use it. But I do get concerned that some people think I mean love this post... when they're talking about their sick dog (for example) that is definitely not what I mean!

There were good reasons for removing that - it was being horribly misused - but maybe there could be one of the more good-humoured looking smiles.

There were good reasons but I would've liked to have seen those who misused it banned.

Better than the whole class punishment given out.

ArmchairXpert · 01/09/2025 00:16

It's a great idea, yes.

well yes, that would be better. But it would depend on those who get an inappropriate reaction reporting because no one else sees them, and a vulnerable poster (some of whom are new to mn) is likely not do that.

ChilliChoco · 01/09/2025 00:30

I think the care emoji is a good one but not flowers as they could be put up insincerely - in a faux/ sarcastic way

TyneTeas · 01/09/2025 00:35

Yes Flowers please!

TyneTeas · 01/09/2025 00:36

I've not seen Flowers being used inappropriately or sarcastically, but if it is then maybe not : {

Agree, flowers would be good.

EchoedSilence · 01/09/2025 08:12

I'd rather see the laugh reaction back to save all the quoted posts with just a 😂 reply.

There must've been plenty of reports for MNHQ to remove the laughing reaction.

There must've been plenty of reports for MNHQ to remove the laughing reaction.

Enough posters were on the receiving end to realise it was surely happening to others, I think. And MNHQ (who can ‘look behind the scenes’ once alerted to problematic posters) must have agreed.
