I'm a bit shocked by the thread about MN using people's generic quotes about products as advertising for specific brands of a product. That seems disingenuous.

However I am even more shocked that the thread concerned has been hidden. That seems doubly disingenuous, especially as other people had photographic evidence of the same happening to them.

It does look like we can't trust MN promotion of products to have true comments on them.

Can anyone explain this? And will you be reinstating the thread?

Does posting on this thread bring it to the top of Active? Let’s find out!

Spies · 04/05/2025 08:47

Yes it does so the other one is definitely being kept out of active.

Zonder · 04/05/2025 08:51

I can see this in active now.

This one is showing but the original thread isn't showing in active.

I'm really hoping that Wondermoomin continues to highlight the issue over the weekend and I wonder if when she starts another thread that one will be kept out of active too...

I’m not an idiot. I know that when we post we are the content providers for this business. But I won’t lie down on this one. Mumsnet have demonstrated so many times that they are slack with data management but I’ve put that down to ignorance. This is the first time I’ve thought that they would be deliberate to misrepresent the content we provide for them, what were they thinking?

This is why I would never, ever pay for this site and have no qualms about using an adblocker.

We are the product. We are what is being sold. We're not freeloaders. The site wouldn't survive without us.

Yes, exactly. I'm the same.

I think MN is the freeloader now - helping itself to stuff written by its users for its own financial gain.
