Hi all,

We are looking for someone to help out on the tech side of things at mumsnet hq. This is very much a part time - lunch hours, evenings and weekends - post, which is semi-voluntary. We can manage a modest salary and we very much hope to be able to increase the remuneration to something more market-related as and when the financial position of mumsnet allows!

Required skills are:

Knowledge of HTML
Knowledge of SQL
Knowledge of Java (not essential but useful)

Responsibilities will include:

Registration issues
Dealing with member queries about profile etc

Member tech queries
On site and via email

Html construction of newsletter/ dev emails/ subs emails etc

Advertising management
Putting up ads/ advertorials when required (SC is building template so rest of team should be able to do most of this)
Providing stats for advertisers

Page construction/ editing
Changes to existing pages and construction of new site pages

Managing member database
Deleting bad addresses etc

There's also some projects on the drawing board that will require programming if that's of interest.

Please email a CV to [email protected] if you are interested and want to discuss further.

Thanks,
Justine, Carrie, Rachel and Tech

I have knowledge of HTML and SQL but not Java unfortunately.

This is right up my and DH's street..I am a web designer and he is the "tech" (programming, Java, server stuff etc). Have emailed him the details BUT I am expecting number 2 in 5 weeks!! Will let you know what he says.

LunarSea · 14/01/2005 15:04

My sort of thing too (my RL existence is a sysadmin/webmaster/web authoring sort of role). Don't do Java, but the rest of it fits. Unfortunately, I don't think my contract here would let me do the same kind of thing for pay for anyone else.

flashingnose · 14/01/2005 15:34

You can give the pay to me, Lunarsea, if that helps

tigermoth · 14/01/2005 18:35

justine, I hope you find some lovely mumsnetter to join your team. I am sure you will not be short of responses.

I know little about the tech side of things so I am probably being way to paranoid, but I hope yout troll deflecting system is on full alert, as someone could find this job offer tempting for all the wrong reasons.

piffle · 18/01/2005 20:45

Hi Justine, have emailed you re DH who says he could possibly do it although he is quite busy, he would have me as backup, I'm pretty ok with html and stuff, if not a little rusty, he could train me up even!
He'll mail CV tomorrow when he can find his laptop again!

Regards
Piff

Hi all,
Just to let you know that our new DepTech is in action and will go by the name of LeTech - on account of his imminent relocation to Northern France. So look out for him and please treat him softly... at first anyway .

Can we have a profile of the new le tech, oh go on...

friendofbadnat · 08/02/2005 09:58

Personally, I would rather he retained an air of mystery.

doggiewalker · 08/02/2005 17:03

Bonjour Monsieur Letech. (OOps just spelt that Leech, easy to miss out the "t")
