Emoji reacts from Anonymous users

Why is this enabled? Are people who aren't logged in able to 'react'?

I'm getting laugh emojis from anonymous user/s.

Doesn't bother me, but I can imagine it might be upsetting, especially if someone is posting when fragile or seeking support.

But anyway, you might like to look at this.

Ooooh come out and show yourself the Anonymous user who just reacted to my last comment. 🤣

That was me….
So I just logged out and then logged in using Apple rather than my Log In details. And then I reacted with a thumbs up on your post. But I couldn’t continue with a comment unless I added a username. Which btw I could do at screen level - didn’t need to go to register/log in to do it.
So yeah, agree with OP. Not good. No monitoring.

Oh that's interesting.

That's not good. It opens up a whole new way of trolls and undesirables posting laughing emojis on sensitive posts - ie illness, disaster, bereavement etc, in order to deliberately target the OP and upset them even more than they are already.

@MNHQ I hope you are reading this thread and taking note.

Hi there @ArabellaScott . Thanks for raising this. We will have a discussion about this in the office.

ThisOldThang · 06/01/2025 10:56

Perhaps the anonymous user is somebody that's been banned?

@garlicnorth Have you seen this thread?

Garlicnorth · 13/01/2025 01:15

Thanks, @HeySinnerman, I hadn't!

I hate this feature. It is far too easy to accidentally hit the button just while scrolling on the phone. Goodness knows how many inapprpriate reactions I might have left by accident.

Robinredguest · 13/01/2025 01:25

I agree. I wish they'd just get rid of it. Pointless.
