Looks like it is an RSS feed.
Some e-mail software can be used to subscribe to this kind of feed... and will then display latest posts within your e-mail software. Feed reader software can also be used, such as Google Reader, Feed Burner.
I've not got into using RSS... perhaps someone can explain it better.

NotABanana · 05/04/2008 16:28

carriemumsnet · 05/04/2008 21:57

Where did you see this? Not sure I can shed any light - but can try!

KatyMac · 05/04/2008 21:59

LilyMunster · 12/04/2008 16:14

well??

what is it?

(and nannynicks post might as well say blah blah blah, mog mog bingybang bongy boo, for all the sense it makes to me)

PeachesMcLean · 12/04/2008 16:17

Is he saying that if you click it, you'll get the latest posts in your email? Crikey some people's inboxes would be full before you could sneeze...

KatyMac · 12/04/2008 16:18

I thought that's what it did say

OP posts:
LilyMunster · 12/04/2008 16:34

but why on earth would anyone want that?
that cant be what it means...

oh, i spose if you post a fairly obscure question you could do it and then actually notice when someone posts a reply a week and a half later...

zippitippitoes · 12/04/2008 16:55

i cant see it which is probably fortunate as the last i would want is posts in my email

MerlinsBeard · 14/04/2008 11:12

what is iiiiiitttt??

JaneMumsnet · 14/04/2008 11:40

It's a simple syndication thing. There are various ways of signing up to see RSS feeds (which means, essentially, every time there is a new post/thread, it will be added to a list) - you can see them through Outlook, Google, all sorts. This is Google Reader, for example.

So you click on the "Subscribe to this topic" and it will ask you how you want to subscribe - via Outlook, or Common Feeds - this may differ depending on whether you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox or a different browser to view the internet.

On Firefox, if you choose "Live Bookmarks", it will stick a little orange bookmark flag on your toolbar, so you can just click it and see all the latest posts on your chosen topic. Internet Explorer has a similar thing called Common Feeds (I think).

So it doesn't HAVE to go into your email, but it can if you like, or it can just collate it somewhere on the internet for you.

Does that make sense

MerlinsBeard · 14/04/2008 14:55

was that in english??

I suppose it would help if i knew what RSS meant on loads of websites
