Suggestion: include username/verify user in 'guess my age/weight' etc photo threads

I just saw a thread requesting other posters judge OP's age/weight/height using a photo. Some posters even include their face.

Usually on threads like that, some of the comments are harsh and uncalled for, and there's no way of knowing if OP is actually the person in the photo, or an abusive person trying to hurt someone else by uploading a photo of them for public scrutiny.

On Reddit posts like this, users are required to either message mods with proof that it's them in the photo, or be holding up a piece of paper with the name of the subreddit written on it in the photo they post.

Would something like that work here? Perhaps either requiring the username in the photo posted, or having a mod check that a photo with the username in matches the person in the photo that OP would like to post.

I think holding a paper with the username is a good idea, it should also only be on a thread that disappears after a few days.

I think the posts should be against the rules full stop.

They often attract abusive posts, they feed into a disturbing prevalent pro-ana culture on MN and enabling someone with poor self-esteem is really not 'making life easier for parents'.

I also think MN should delete identifiable photos of children.

I'd agree with Clymene and would ban them entirely.

Similarly I'd also ban "where is this location" posts - you have no idea why the poster wants to know. I have seen on MN at least two threads with photos with a child in (face blurred out) and posters were rushing to try and tell the OP where that photo was taken even though they had no idea if OP was a genuinely interested party or an abusive ex trying to track someone down using photos.
