MN Font size not scalable under IE6

Hi, the fonts that you are using are not scaling correctly when people are using IE6 (View > Text Size > Largest etc) probably because they are defined as a specific font size instead of a percentage. Could this be changed to make the site more accessible please?

Sympathy to Tech as IE6 is a terrible browser to right code for.

IE6 can be easy if you force it into standards mode rather than the default quirks mode. ;-)

It should just be a matter of changing the fonts in the style sheet, eg from "10" to "100%" - the problem is that if you have nested styles, the percentages multiply together, so if a table style has font set to 200%, and then you use another style for the text which is set to 200%, you end up with 200% x 200%, ie 400% HUGE font...

although ems rather than percentages... ;-)

I imagine Tech and NewTech shuddered at the 'it should just'... ..always makes me cringe when I hear just next to dev stuff..

Yes, usually from users who haven't a clue that their half-a-dozen words request actually means redeveloping the whole application, restructuring the database, rewriting the documentation.... And then after you've been working on it for 6 months they complain when you want them to spend their valuable time testing it.... A subject very close to my heart just at the moment

me too.. ..writing a new content management system... ..all good fun.

Ah well, back to explaining to my users why this is not a good time to rethink the requirements... just keep saying "we'll consider that for version 2" like a stuck record...

Have learned that lesson long ago.. ...once we've got a functional spec, "couldn't we just.." and "we should make it do..." get answered with pointing to the signed-off functional spec, a sharp rap to the forward with a ruler and the word "NO!" in a stern voice.. ...works beautifully.
