Another forum that i use allows you to 'like', 'dislike' or 'laugh' at posts as well as being able to reply.

I really like this format as it allows you to interact with post/comments without having to post a full reply (esp. good if someone else has already said what you wanted to post).

This doesn't seem to cut down on the number of replies on the other forum just allows another way to interact.

Would you enjoy this feature, is this something MN have ever thought of implementing ?

Why would you want a forum to be like a different forum? Surely is better if they aren’t all the same.

It doesn't matter who's agreeing with dickish comments because if they didn't want anyone to know, they'd just name change to click like.

Great, if they want to go to the bother of name changing then let them - doubt they will though. Far easier just to give something a DM up/down whatever though, no need to do anything beyond one click.

BagOfBollocks · 31/10/2022 18:20

Again, it's no different to typing 'Agreed'.

No thank you. Here, we use our words. Old fashioned maybe; quirky, some might say; others might find us dinosaurs. But still we say no, no thank you.

Not sure you can say "we" as you don't speak for me

DahliaBlooming · 31/10/2022 18:29

Nooooo! Please no reaction buttons!

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2022 20:54

No, dear god no. MN is a discussion forum and fine as it is.

It's no different to quoting someone and saying "Agreed" though and people have always done that.

It’s minimal effort I agree but a little bit more than one keystroke or thumb print

PurpleButterflyWings · 01/11/2022 00:24

Not a chance would I want a like and dislike button - or thumbs up and thumbs down. It encourages cliques and bullying. A loud, opinionated, and well known/regular poster who has a bit of a following will end up with more 'likes' than the lesser known person they are arguing with.

Then it will put the more well known poster under the bizarre and utterly incorrect illusion that they are correct. It also looks like they are more popular and as I said, it creates cliques, factions, and bullying.

That's true @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g!
