New topic idea

As a recent mum of three I was wondering if anyone, like me, would find it useful to have a topic on coping with 'larger families'. I know that is open to interpretation and absolutely don't want to alienate those with smaller families (or those who hate another new topic!) but would value advice from others on specific issues involved once parents are outnumbered by children.

Good idea and what about mums who've always been surrounded by females (DD's, dog, cat, rabbit) and have suddenyl become ssurrounded by males (DH, DS, Grandson, new dog, new cat, rabbit & guinea pig)>

joash, I'm a bit like that - the DDs have both left home and now it's just me, DH and 2 DSs (plus snake, 2 gerbils and 1 stick insect, all referred to as he whatever they are!)

Mog, have a look at 4 or more? For one thing it will help you cope and for another will make you think maybe 3 isn't quite so many after all

JanH, my main concern is that after having a very female dominated household for the past 24 years, there's been no problem with asserting that "I'm not a housewife...I'm a bloody youth & community worker, if you're not happy with...(whatever) do it yourself, I'm going to work". Trouble is, now I really am a SAHM and no female support around to demonstrate who wears the trousers.

Hi there

Sorry noone's been back to you on this. I'm afraid we've put a stop to new topic headings unless there's a really pressing reason ie the subject doesn't really fit in anywhere else. I'm sure there are lots of issues surrounding larger families, but hopefully these can be covered within the existing topics, parenting, realtionships etc.

Sorry to disappoint and thanks for the suggestion.

What on earth is the smiley for codswallop. Just cause you don't want new topics doesn't mean noone does. This sort of thing puts me right off mumsnet
