I have a padlock still.

exnewwifeproblems · 31/07/2022 18:00

That's worrying me. Does it apply to the app as well?

MattTech · 31/07/2022 23:33

Hi… This is nothing to worry about.

There is an advert that loads an image from a different URL and it sometimes shows this.

We’re constantly monitoring them but I can assure you it’s nothing nefarious.

Hope that helps!

Clear as mud @MattTech

So you're taking adverts from sites that aren't secure and it's affecting mumsnet?

Does it apply to the app?

It’s not great. Best practice nowadays is for all URLs to be https - I wouldn’t click on any link that wasn’t.

I don't understand.
The page was a thread on Mumsnet. The URL said Mumsnet. Are you saying it was not Mumsnet I was on? The description on the second photo said mumsnet.com not fully secure. Are you saying that was the advert?
I am not really understanding what you are saying, sorry.

@IncompleteSenten You were on Mumsnet, and the connection to Mumsnet was secure.

There was an advert on the page which loaded an image (and only an image) from a different domain (which is very common). Unfortunately, in this instance, the image was loaded from a URL beginning with http instead of https, which is why the padlock wasn't shown.

We monitor these very closely, and when we spot any that are not using https URLs, we take action to remove them.

It wasn't anything nefarious, and please be assured that we've taken action to remove the offending advert from the site.
