Thanks for raising this.

There shouldn't be too many of these 'User123456789' usernames knocking around these days, for what it's worth. Way back in 2016 we briefly introduced a new system to speed up the registration process on the app, whereby these usernames were automatically assigned, and then the onus was on the new joiner to choose a new name.

There were a lot of threads in Site Stuff at the time about the confusion these names were causing, and so we changed the registration process and encouraged any existing 'User123456789' folk to change their usernames. But we didn't feel we could insist, as it was something that we'd essentially foisted on them - and some people really appreciated the anonymity of these names.

As ever, if there are any posters that you're concerned about, please report them to us so we can check things out behind the scenes. If we think that someone's chosen to use one of these type of usernames in order to troll or obfuscate, we'd take action.
