Classic threads topic

Many moons ago a Mumsnetter who shall remain nameless (on account of the fact that we've forgotten who it was ) came up with the very bright idea of a classic threads topic, to help preserve the most weird and wonderful of the musings in the Chat topic from the vortex of automated deletion. Well, not only did we think it a top idea, we even managed to distract Tech from his html code for long enough to convince him too...

So we're delighted to introduce, Mumsnet classics, and now all we need is something to put inside it. Let us know if there are any threads (with links please) that you think deserve to be preserved for posterity and we will duly consider their inclusion in our hall of fame. And as an added bonus for newbies and/or the nostalgic amongst you, Morningpaper promises each week to suck out the best bits from a classic thread and to include it in the Talk round up, which if for some extraordinary reason you haven't already, you should of course, sign up for here.
Love,
Mumsnet Towers

Chippy, it was in chat, sorry.
As were all the other 'If Mumsnetters were....' threads, I think. (The Victorian and 1970s ones were brilliant.)

StealthPolarBear - I missed that one but now I want to read it

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2007 21:30

I'll have a look

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2007 21:32

can't find it - help!
I think her name was Amanda but she's since name changed
And if she reads this she's going to think she has a big white furry stalker

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2007 21:34

here
OK very odd - it doesn't seem to be the whole thread and all her messages have been withdrawn, so maybe not the best idea to resurrect it

whomovedmychocolate · 04/09/2007 21:38

Aww not fair I was looking forward to that Thanks for trying anyway!s

CatIsSleepy · 04/09/2007 21:49

this was a lovely thread

Mercy · 04/09/2007 21:50

RTKangamummy, I remember that thread - was very funny I think pouchofdouglas is how t sesarch for it.

Also someone(!) recommended a thread re making a reindeer something for school? Very funny imo.

Miaou · 04/09/2007 21:58

Don't know whether it's resurrectable, but I started one called something like "I need to talk about having a fourth child", I think probably around August/Sept O5. It had some wonderful stories/posts on it and I kept going back to it again and again, and in the end I saved a copy of it to refer to before it disappeared from Chat. However my computer then crashed and I lost it . I remember it was Discussion of the Day if that's any help. Obviously it's special to me as I started it, so maybe I'm biased about the point of keeping it!

Mercy · 04/09/2007 21:58

Cat, yes that was another good one.

god, there have been some bloody good threads on MN, somes very moving and soesm just so funny

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2007 21:58

Zombie plans

StealthPolarBear · 04/09/2007 22:06

Have I managed to kill a thread about fantastic threads?

Peshatlast · 04/09/2007 22:41

channel tunnel

TheQueenOfQuotes · 04/09/2007 22:43

I think the thread where we all waited to hear that Peter's transplant was going ahead should be kept for prosperity - it was a lovely thread.

Peshatlast · 04/09/2007 22:46

Was going to suggest 'No ejaculations and runs off in the morning' but although it started funny it ended not so happily didnt it so maybe not. Thomcat it was your thread wasnt it?

chipmonkey · 04/09/2007 23:31

It was Thomcat's thread.
Wasn't there a thread about someone who was ambushed in the school car park by a mad woman ranting about tablecloths? That was funny!

ChippyMinton · 05/09/2007 10:25

Tech - any chance of resurrecting these threads from Chat? 'If Mumsnetters were....' threads, The Victorian and 1970s ones were brilliant and the six inches high one too.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 05/09/2007 20:55

I know there was one of mine (years back - as DS1 has just gone into yr2!) about leaving DS2 at home asleep in his cot while I popped next door to pick him up (or was it drop him off??) from one of hte "visit" days think it's my only 1000+ posts thread........or is that called blowing my own trumpet

JackieNo · 05/09/2007 22:25
