Yes, I put an AIBU on before which occurred to me due to reading another thread. I think a lot of people are told to start there own threads rather than derail someone else's. I did not reference any other thread and said it was an opinion based on personal experience. What are the rules Mumsnet?

@FunkyMunkey

It can be a bit confusing I guess. And you do have to take your chance when you start a new thread.. But I think your thread was quite goady and not in the spirit of the site at all,

If it had not been a thread that was so rude and insulting to an entire section of society, it may have remained.

FunkyMunkey · 24/11/2019 21:32

Nothing in my inbox or email from Mumsnet either. Nice to know I'm being repressed for asking a question which may have changed my opinion.

I don't think your thread was in the spirit either.

FunkyMunkey · 24/11/2019 21:35

@MistyCloud I completely understand what you're saying. It is just something that bothered me with my own family and I cannot talk to them, unfortunately, from another point of view. It's why I thought aibu would be able to give me other viewpoints, as it often does.

I thought your thread was goady and as someone who is about to re-marry and possibly have another child I found it offensive to be stereotyped into a box of judgement

FunkyMunkey · 24/11/2019 21:37

What exactly does 'in the spirit' mean? Iv seen loads of worse shit on aibu and people getting there arse handed to them. If that was the case with me I would accept I'm wrong and thank people for there differing views, as I thought it was meant to do. Iv not been able to read anything.

O O what's occurring here then?

MistyCloud · 24/11/2019 21:44

'In the spirit' of the site. To help parents and support them. Yeah I have seen worse shit too on here, but it usually ends up being deleted.

Some people actually agreed, but some were offended, and IMO what you said it was kinda rude.

I didn't report you by the way, and I won't now.

But someone will. So expect this thread to go 'poooof! too!'

Sparklingbrook · 24/11/2019 21:45

MNHQ will see this thread anyway as it's in Site Stuff.

FunkyMunkey · 24/11/2019 21:49

I'm more pissed off now about Mumset arbitrary censorship rules if I'm honest.

Hi OP, yes as @Sparklingbrook says please feel free to drop us an email with any specific questions.

It means you're not supposed to lift an EXACT scenario from another thread and invite people to comment/judge.

If something on a thread inspires you to start a related discussion, and it is likely to result in criticism of the OP on that thread, it would be polite to at the very least wait a few days, and also to spend a few moments thinking about why you are so moved to post and post about your own thoughts, rather than lazily piggybacking off another thread when it's highly likely the OP will read yours.

Just to take a common theme. Let's say a poster made an offhand comment halfway down a thread about her relationship or whatever, and she commented about parent and child parking. You see this, feel annoyed and feel compelled to write a post stating the same EXACT scenario and invite people to respond. The OP later sees this and feels crap because she recognises that it's directed at her, not at P+C parking generally and feels every negative response as a personal pile on. She may have been under some extreme stress at the time, or whatever.

If instead you had thought about it, and written a general post about people misusing P+C parking, she probably won't notice the thread and no harm done and you'll have a lovely boring discussion that goes on for 100 pages about parking.

If you'd waited until the next day or two, and it was still niggling at you so you decided to post, the chances are she might not even be online and wouldn't see it at all.

FunkyMunkey · 24/11/2019 22:15

Oh I completely understand what you're saying @BertieBotts but my first comment was due to my personal circumstances and my post was directly related to my personal circumstances, which I made sure I said in my OP.
