Advert for milk thermometer

Hi MNHQ

I've just seen an ad on this site for a milk thermometer for heating baby bottles in the microwave. If possible I think you should get this removed as it promotes unsafe bottle feeding (making bottles in advance then heating them up).

NHS says you can actually do that as long as they are made with water over 70 degrees and stored in the back of the fridge for up to 24 hours

If made-up formula is stored:

  • in a fridge–use within 24 hours
  • in a cool bag with an ice pack–use withinfour hours
  • at room temperature–use withintwo hours

Although if heating in a microwave you should shake/ mix thoroughly to ensure there are no hot spots

That's a bit misleading - it actually says Fred's should be made up as needed but if you have no other choice you can store them, but that it isn't ideal. This product implys you can do this as routine, plus as you say, microwaving bottles is definitely unsafe (this is also the NHS advice)

Hi @DebbieFiderer,

This may well be an ad choices advert, so not something that we've chosen for the site. If you see the ad again, check whether there's a little blue sideways triangle on it - if there is, you can click on it to allow you to edit your ad choices and stop seeing the advert.

If you see the ad again and there's no blue triangle, could you screenshot it for us so we can check it out? Many thanks.
