Poster to promote Mumsnet?

nannynick · 16/06/2007 08:21

My local Children's Centre has a poster promoting another parenting site! So I wondered if Mumsnet has a poster which users can print out and take to their favourite meeting places to try to get it displayed for free. Having posters in A5 and A4 sizes would be useful I feel.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Are there posters already, or do they need to be designed?

Does MN need more promoting?

nannynick · 16/06/2007 08:26

Well, we can't let rival websites getting posters in surestart children's centres and not have a Mumsnet poster displayed... can we?

At the family group I attend, noone knew of Mumsnet - they do now

ooh no, I can't keep up with the threads as it is

jofeb04 · 16/06/2007 17:57

Agree with this, I could hand it out to clients, who often want details of good sites

I remember someone who as a midwife asked if people thought it was okay to direct new mums to Mumsnet.

I am very selfish and like MY mumsnet to stay as it is - but I do think the early days would have been much more bearable if I had an online community like this.

(thinks back to long grey days in a one bedroom flat with only cbeebies for company)

oh god no

the floodgates are already too wide

I say lets raise the drawbridge and chuck people over the parapets instead

Flamesparrow · 16/06/2007 18:04

Don't really care about MN promoting, but if you're on a promoting kick I'll happily send you some BumFluff flyers

BishyBarneyBee · 16/06/2007 18:06

see your point twig - could do with a culling when your post drops of active convos in a matter of minutes.

one other website I was on had a shock horror scandal as the hardcore were upset at the size as broke off and formed their own site - bit like Paul McCartney's Wings.

jofeb04 · 16/06/2007 18:08

lol, I wouldn't mind as long as they don't know my mn name!!

Flame, I'll happily have some leaflets off you!!

In my former existence as a member on another wellknown reversely named parenting forum, this was part of my role, I used to get loads of a5 flyers to leave in the childrens library, sure start clinic, gp clinic, health visitors, the gym, and other places where parents go with their kids.

Flamesparrow · 16/06/2007 18:12

If anyone wants to help with some nappy promotin, can you email your address to bumfluffnappies at gmail.com and I'll get em sent out

jofeb04 · 16/06/2007 18:13

I'll email you tonight Flame, might have some clients coming your way

fireflyfairy2 · 16/06/2007 18:15

MCSSN, I picked up a few of them in ELC one day.

milkchocolateStarryStarryNight · 16/06/2007 18:16

Yes, there are lots of volunteers that do this. And who also keep then informed about local events and stuff.

Hi Nannynick

We don;t currently have Mumsnet posters, but it's certainly something to think about. We did have posters promoting the Mumsnet books, which we were rather childishly fond of (Were you at it all night? - pic of breastfeeding mum. Do you like three in a bed? pic of mum dad and toddler...) so maybe it's time we did some more creative thinking.

Thanks for the suggestion
