Think so. At least in the US... it's used a lot in IT circles.
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
One entry found for outage.

Main Entry: out·age
Pronunciation: 'au-tij
Function: noun
1 : a quantity or bulk of something lost in transportation or storage
2 a : a failure or interruption in use or functioning b : a period of interruption especially of electric current

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 25/08/2004 14:44

doesn't it relate to the extent to which one's belly button sits proud of the belly?? for example: "DS has minimal outage, whereas DD has substantial innage"

Blu · 25/08/2004 14:49

I thought it referred to the extent to which one's sexuality was made public - i.e 'graham Norton has a high outage score'

Outage is a word. And what we're currently experiencing is an "innage".

Can I have my verbio-stylistic competency badge now please?

Fio2 · 25/08/2004 15:35

mm that wa the funniest!

he said ' fio, i used to be a beautician y'know'

then he was changing lanes to 'get new records' apparently

Blu · 25/08/2004 15:41

Cod: does your DH always go to the toilet as soon as he realises he needs to? I heard once that spies always 'go' because otherwise they might find themselves compromised if having to eavesdrop or get kidnapped, or something! It could be a clue....

Bunglie · 25/08/2004 16:58

I'm confused....back to snail baiting for me...it's more satisfying.

Can a snail have an 'outage' when it comes outage it's shell?

Tommy · 25/08/2004 17:52

I also thought it was a typo for "outrage" - whihc no MN for 3 hours is

notthecod · 25/08/2004 18:23

mY DH GOES TO THE TOLIET FOR AGES AND IF IT WERENT FOR THE FAct that he goes armed tih private eye or the cricketer, I would suspect he was transmitting to Moscow!
