Mumsnet Advertising Formula Milk?

Hi @MNHQ - I just saw this ad for follow-on formula on your site. I was under the impression you didn’t take formula advertising (including follow-on milk.) Has this policy changed? If so, why?

Mumsnet Advertising Formula Milk?

It's an AdChoice ad (you can tell by the blue arrow in the top right hand corner).

Mumsnet 'hosts' spaces to AdChoice, but doesn't have any control over the content of the ads. But, they'll chase them down and zap them!

Yep as pp said that ad was placed by Google, and is tailored to you

I think it's entirely appropriate to advertise formula milk on Mumsnet, given that most of the site's users will have bought and used it at some point. It is a VERY rare person who breastfeeds until a year or beyond. I can't see a problem with it. It's not like anyone is pretending it doesn't exist!

Why would Mumsnet ban formula milk ads???

Manderleyagain · 15/09/2018 19:52

It's illegal to advertise formula for babies younger than 6 months so it's only follow on milk that is advertised. Formula companies use that to get their brand recognition to sell to parents of young babies. I expect mn are following the international code which goes further than UK law.

It’s in their policy here : www.mumsnet.com/info/about-us
