For me it's a chance to discuss issues I feel strongly about with a group of people from a wide{ish?) variety of backgrounds. Why do you belong to MN ?

It's like phoning an old friend for a natter about nowt much when there's nothing much on telly and nowhere to go - a pleasant distraction

tis an addiction

kittyhas6 · 27/05/2007 22:31

For comradeship and to get advice, it's really great for that. I also like watching the fighting and sometimes I join in! It's also usful to see all the different takes on any given situation, gives you food for thought.

PinkTulips · 27/05/2007 22:42

it's pretty much the only chance i have to speak to adults besides dp

elkiedee · 27/05/2007 22:42

A chance to talk online to women with some intelligence on a wide range of subjects, and a chance to find support and to realise that no matter what is going on, you're really not at all the only one. As a first time pregnant woman with acid making me wretched, then an overdue pg woman facing induction and very afraid, then a first time mum, feeling clueless and paranoid, I can't say enough about how important mumsnet has come to be to me. Dp finds it pretty useful as well, and has looked up anything worrying him in the middle of the night several times since our Danny was born.

Twinklemegan · 27/05/2007 22:43

It was a saving grace to me in the early days of motherhood - and I mean that quite seriously, I was a complete mess.

Twinklemegan · 27/05/2007 22:44

Also, as a WOHM I feel pretty excluded from most baby stuff (missing out on baby clubs, parent groups, etc.) so it's great to actually TALK to other mums.

Aitch · 27/05/2007 22:48

who, lapin, who do you consider a friend? (it's going to be franny... it's always franny^...)

i think that the coolest thing about MN is that if you have a question about something, anything, there is generally some weirdy world expert tech/science/shrinky/lentil weavery person about to answer. and some of the people on here are witty as fuck...

WaspElly · 27/05/2007 22:48

A absolute joy, and utter delight. The fab range of views /advice for every situation and the wit & sheer silliness to lift anyones day which lightens the very worthy and wholesome support 'net'work {geddit?}

Gutted I didn't find it until 2nd time around!

Twinklemegan · 27/05/2007 22:50

Agree Aitch. For me it tends to be 1) Mumsnet; 2) Google.

I MN to chat mostly. I rarely ask for advice on parenting but happily spout off to others.

MN often makes me laugh. And occasionally I make other people laugh. Which is nice.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/05/2007 00:04

But the very best threads on MN are about chickens
