Not that I ever did.. but in light of the invitation of Twitter users to report on FWR threads, on top of the inability to stop Tabloids lifting threads and posting them all over for the world to see (and by this I mean bringing private threads to the attention of millions who wouldn't normally even look at MN)

I no longer feel that MN is 'by parents for parents' or in any way a safe space to discuss anything.

I'm disappointed. After 13 years of up and downs of fighting for posters rights under various guises.. I just reached peak bullshit.

This twitter thing is a violation of their posters safety too far.

It's a wide open internet site.

It never was a safe space, and never will be.

As you know, when you started your post "not that I ever did"

What twitter thing? What is FWR? What have I missed?

NC regularly, no ref to job, area, don't specify child/rens sexes, ca canny.

Use phrases that you don't have real claim to. Scottish ones, for eg. Haud yer whesht.

I feel very unsafe. The revelations about how virtually all user data (even deleted PMs) were available to interns who had no viable reason to access that data, have shocked me, but the way Mumsnet responded to that have shocked me more.

And I don't believe a site-wide email was actually sent out about the intern breach (how many users remain unaware it ever happened, I wonder?), and MN's first instinct was to protect their intern and play down the situation. Was that site-wide email never sent out because they didn't consider it much of an issue, or because they knew how many people it would peak-trans? Either way, I'm inclined to think the intern wasn't lying when she said she still had friends at Mumsnet. The way the conversation is currently being moderated at the moment seems to strongly support that. So much for free speech.

Honestly, though, I think Mumsnet is going to be extremely vulnerable once GDPR comes in. What's the maximum fine? 20 million Euros? That can be mitigated by how proactive a company has been in dealing with breaches, but well... Yeah.

Very sorry to hear that Kriticalsoul. We completely understand why you'd feel this way and we want to do all we can to reassure you so please do have a look through these FAQs which will hopefully answer some of your questions, but do come back to us with any concerns not covered there:

Obviously this is something we will be discussing in the office over the coming days and weeks - please be assured we hear and understand your concerns. The safety and privacy of our users is always a priority and while we know there are definitely areas for improvement we are committed to doing all we can.

First rule of posting online. Never say anything you wouldn't put on the back of a postcard. It's never been "safe".
