Is there an ignore poster button?

Just wondering if there's an ignore poster button? I don't think there is but thought it was worth asking. If not maybe you could consider it?

There's a poster following me around trying to get a reaction. It's a bit cringey. I will not give it the attention it wants by acknowledging it of course, but just thought I'd ask if there was a button Smile

Thanks!

No, here isn't. Numerous times it has been asked for and the generous consensus was that it wasn't in the spirit of the site and would disrupt the flow of threads.

Mustang27 · 06/08/2017 09:28

Wow a Mumsnet stalker yikes!!! Is it horrible stuff or just trying to bait you into an argument?

SuburbanRhonda · 06/08/2017 09:30

OP, you realise you're going to get more stalkers now, don't you? Grin

Brighteyes27 · 06/08/2017 09:35

I would try to ignore it and try not to take it personally there always seems to be the odd one or two who seem to go out of there way to be arsey, miss the point completely or be argumentative or maybe name change?

WaitrosePigeon · 06/08/2017 10:00

I didn't think there was, nevermind.

I would never take it personally, I'm just embarrassed for them really.

And yes I realise now I will get stalkers galore Gin

I agree , a block poster function would be good

paxillin · 06/08/2017 10:56

I'd love to have an "ignore poster" button. I don't have one currently, but I also had one following me about, goading, even sending a PM claiming I had it in for her Confused.

I fear it is like the "non name change" board idea, it is periodically suggested and then dismissed as either technically difficult or not in the spirit.

GinIsIn · 06/08/2017 12:26

Oooh, is it me? buys birdseed from Waitrose

FeralBeryl · 06/08/2017 14:32

I agree in theory - but wouldn't it make the thread you were reading difficult if they were participating in it? Or would it be that you could avoid whole threads if they were on?

ImperialBlether · 06/08/2017 14:35

Is someone being aggressive towards you, WaitrosePigeon?

BishopBrennansArse · 06/08/2017 14:41

No. It's been asked for shed loads of times
But not given.

lovemycatsanddog · 06/08/2017 14:52

I wish there was a like button too, so if you didnt want or need to write a post you could just like !!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/08/2017 14:53

It wouldn't disrupt the flow of threads at all, people pick and choose who to reply to as it is now. It would be great to have the option.

Firefries · 06/08/2017 15:40

I would message mumsnet HQ personally if this is happening.

Xeneth88 · 06/08/2017 15:41

Id love this function!

Sorry to hear you have a MN stalker!

Loopsdefruits · 06/08/2017 15:42

Not sure if this is an option, but could you name change to 'get away', or message MNHQ to see if they can do anything.

PurpleDaisies · 06/08/2017 15:47

Are you sure they're doing it deliberately? I was once accused of "always" misunderstanding someone's posts when I genuinely had no idea who they were.

TizzyDongue · 06/08/2017 16:03

I've used a site that had this function. It's wasn't overly effective.

On this site a thread the blocked poster's posts where replaced with a message relaying that the post was hidden because they were on your block poster list - and gave the option to view it. More so this particular site had a quote function and if anyone quoted them you'd see it anyway.

It does interrupt the flow, if said poster is influencing the thread or being replied to. Generally people want to block other posters because of they have strong views that they might see as bigoted or provocative: and so causing other posters to react and so causing a lot of the content about them and thier posts.

Probably would be effective with a poster that is following another around to irritate that individual poster though - like the OP's situation.

tethersend · 06/08/2017 16:06

I would block everyone and win MN.

tethersend · 06/08/2017 16:06

Well said, tethersend.

tethersend · 06/08/2017 16:07

I agree with tethersend
