Have you noticed that Special needs board is just about dead

...............it seems such a pity

When I have popped over there I have noticed that there aren't many "live" threads - is it that the regular posters are now in a spin off group or is it the result of being taken out of active conversations ?

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 20/12/2006 11:50

my thinking is if it's hardly being used then it could come back on the main active conversations as it is a bit pointless if no one is using it

I use the active convos with special needs option and have notices this over the past couple of weeks too.

I'm hacked off at having to have buying and selling too, if I want SN - and if the SN threads get even fewer will probably resort to the 'without buying and selling option'.

I think it is a great shame - but otoh - it may just mean that those who used this board regularly have found a new home that they are more comfortable with

carriemumsnet · 20/12/2006 22:26

Maybe folks are just busy with Christmas, or maybe as andaSOAPBOXinapeartree (blimey these Xmas names take a bit of typing) says people have found a new home. Whatever it is we hope the Special Needs regulars still feel welcome on Mumsnet and as for tailoring Talk to your specific requirements, Tech's working on a master plan that should allow us all to do just that, so please bear with us.

Jimjams2 · 20/12/2006 22:30

It's christmas/school holidays. Our "other home" is also very quiet indeed. Many of us can't get onto the computer very easily when we have our children at home with us (I for example cannot turn ours on very easily when ds1 is around as he walks up and turn it straight off - which the computer objects to). Very few of us can access childcare/holiday clubs. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Jimjams2 · 20/12/2006 22:31

And that's NOT about being competitive. Just a simple explanation of the way it is for many of us.

andaSOAPBOXinapeartree · 20/12/2006 22:32

That makes a lot of sense JJ

SaggarClaus · 20/12/2006 22:34

Probably all just busy at the moment, I know I am. I'm not managing much time on the net at all at the moment and haven't posted on my other special needs boards either for a while.

Soapy use this link his link if you want SN but no buying/selling.

andaSOAPBOXinapeartree · 20/12/2006 22:35

WoW!!!!

You are clever

Thank you

SaggarClaus · 20/12/2006 22:36

I can't take the credit Soapy - someone else posted it a while ago

havent posted on SN for a while as dd2 is quite calm right now, and other stuff is at the forefront of my mind. nothing to do with it being taken off the main board at all, just right now i am content with dd2 and her ways, and selfishly am not in the right frame of mind to be giving much advice either.

just the way life is atm.

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 20/12/2006 23:40

I wouldn't say it was just about dead tbh, I haven't found that to be the case. I thought I'd be lonely over there but after a while of re-adjusting haven't found that to be the case.

I do miss a few of the the mumsnetters who would have posted on a few of my threads before but on the whole haven't felt as lonely over there as I thought I might.

I think you should all just get used to hitting the 'include special needs' like I have.

Jimjams2 · 20/12/2006 23:48

TC- I feel like you've been posting more on there again recently. Which is nice.

it could also be that our children are home from school and the time we have to post is limited as we are caring for our kids - in my case - for the six weeks of summer holidays so trying to keep two little ones amused. As well as being 26 weeks pregnant in summer and having a horrid gastric bug that has been doing the rounds....

2snowshoes · 21/12/2006 11:48

sorry haven't got time to read all the thread at the moment as I have my sn child at home. so can only grab odd mins on pc during the day.
surely it is good if it quiet...means people haven't got any problems

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 21/12/2006 12:10

Thanks for that link - I've put it on my links bar so I can access it any time with one click (my other links are Hotmail, Threads I'm on & Threads I'm watching - obsessed? me?)

2snowshoes · 21/12/2006 13:10

Bethron hope your ds is ok now.

mummy2aaron · 21/12/2006 13:23

Bethron that sounds bad.

Not been on much myself - bronchitis - ds2 is a nightmare atm too as Nursey finished last Friday - never going to his Nativity again - ok with me not there - as soon as I turn up late - dd's hearing test - he starts kicking and screaming in the middle of his solo.

Like it as it is though, keep it seperate.

Sn is still there when we need it- isn't that whayt matters most? kept me sane yesterday when I was very unhappy about an incident at school. here to see the sort of thing that gets us day after day but I have also been busy sorting this ruddy {http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2230&threadid=254574&stamp=061219112819\ mess that is threatening our liveligood}, as yet to no result.

And of course somewhere in it is Christmas (thankfully)

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 21/12/2006 15:05

oops mess from Hell
