...and Mumsnet are plugging the "funpod"!

OK girls, there are 7 or so of you - how many of you actually own a funpod and really think that it is ingenious? Please tell me that someone is paying you to say this...

Whats a funpod?

ParanoidSurreyHousewife · 14/12/2006 12:55

Funny you should ask.

Watch out they're selling out quickly!

bundle · 14/12/2006 12:59

so. it's a highchair for children who won't sit down?

HumphreyCushiONtheFirstNoel · 14/12/2006 12:59

a mailbox for babies?

EniDeepMidwinter · 14/12/2006 13:00

eh? whats wrong with a chair?

HumphreyCushiONtheFirstNoel · 14/12/2006 13:00

or a 'chop-a-baby-in-half' prop for budding magicians?

HumphreyCushiONtheFirstNoel · 14/12/2006 13:01

Looks neither fun nor podlike to me, TBH.

NotQuiteCockney · 14/12/2006 13:01

I think this is meant to be safer than a child standing on a chair, it'll get the kid to the right height, it's harder for the kid to fall off of (in theory?), and harder to tip over.

Still, £150?!? I think not.

PinkTinsel · 14/12/2006 13:05

if it wasn't so expensive i'd actually buy one! dd cannot stand on a chair in the kitchen without falling off (inherited mommy's clumsy gene unfortunately) but she loves to help, and letting her play in the sink is a great way to keep her busy for an hour! bloody stupid price though

ParanoidSurreyHousewife · 14/12/2006 13:05

I guess that it could be a very small playpen.

But how dangerous is falling off a chair really?

And RRP of £165? Why? I thought that the Bumbo was overpriced, but now I really see that it was a bargain.

lulumama · 14/12/2006 13:07

blardy hell!! LOL at humph though, neither fun nor podlike!!

erm..stand on a chair !! and the price of it !!

EniDeepMidwinter · 14/12/2006 13:08

god mine constantly fall off chairs

hopefully someone will invent a padded jetpod soon so that they can float everywhere in case they might trip over

PinkTinsel · 14/12/2006 13:11

'But how dangerous is falling off a chair really?'

onto tile floors? onto the radiator? cracking head off door handles on the way down?

dd has managed all of these, sometimes several at once...... think this is one of those situations where if you don't have an accident prone child you probably won't get it! she's fallen off 2 chairs today, sitting both times, not standing. the first time she cracked her chin and face off the computer desk and is all red and bruised, the second time she fell between that chair and another one and got stuck and also cracked her head off the second chair. and did i mention the tile floors [nervous wreck emoiticon]

PinkTinsel · 14/12/2006 13:12

i'm such a wreck i'm loosing the ability to spell...... emoticon!

btw, i'm not advocating spending 150 quid on one but am seriously contemplating having my dad make one for me!

EniDeepMidwinter · 14/12/2006 13:13

we have stone floors

no major injury here (I don't count bruises as major injuries)

leaning backwards on a chair and it falling and cracking your head on the cupboard, yes - dd2 did this once and will NEVER do it again

EniDeepMidwinter · 14/12/2006 13:13

how old is she pinktinsel?

PinkTinsel · 14/12/2006 13:15

2 in january, i have a 4 month old ds i'm bfing so can't always get to her when she climbs on a chair to get something to get her down safely

EniDeepMidwinter · 14/12/2006 13:16

I must say we 'upgraded' to extremely heavy wooden chairs for the kitchen which never tip over or shift about - they help

PinkTinsel · 14/12/2006 13:16

oooooo your so lucky to have one that learns from her mistakes, dd fell of the first chair, cried, was plastered with arnica, had a cuddle and went straight over to the other chair while i was picking up ds!

Nemoinapeartree · 14/12/2006 13:17

£150 for a box???????????????????????????????? Dont see the point..keep a safety gate on kitchen and dont let them in..its the only peace I get...

Glitterygookwithchocsonthetree · 14/12/2006 13:19

£150 for a wooden box?!?!

More money than sense springs to mind

Glitterygookwithchocsonthetree · 14/12/2006 13:20

I'm actually feeling a bit cross with the company really - £150 - honestly??? that has to be one of the biggest rip-offs I've ever seen. I wonder how many they have sold.

FiveGoldenFIMBOIDs · 14/12/2006 13:35

My fil could make them I bet. £150 what a con!

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 14/12/2006 13:39

..and what if they try and climb out (which they surely would) - way more damage than falling off a chair i should think. Honestly who buys into this nonsense?

bundle · 14/12/2006 13:41

the curse of Paranoid Parenting and More Money Than Sense..
