Have changed password, but very concerned about security.

I changed my password early this morning, when I saw the list of usernames and passwords.
I changed it at home on my iPad.
In the past, whenever I've changed any details in my account, eg username, I've been automatically logged out on any other devices I'm logged into (my phone).
Recently this hasn't been happening, and this morning, even though I've changed my password, my phone has stayed logged in to MN.
If someone has hacked my account, or anyone else's, theoretically will they still be logged into any account they have hacked into, if the system doesn't automatically log out of other devices.
Sorry if this is jumbled, just wanting to be reassured here.

Happened to me too lechien so no reassurance here! I used my desktop to change everything but my Ipad is still happily logged in, so is the app.

I am joining the voices to say this has been poorly handled!

Same here. I changed everything, nickname, password and even created a new email address for MN only. I don't even know if I was on the list, but thought it was better to be safe than sorry.

However the app was still logged in as the "old" me....

How secure is the app, does anyone know?

I think we can assume that as a whole mumsnet is not secure. Whatever measures they've taken in the last 48 hours would (maybe) have plugged the hole that allowed the hackers in this time but that is no guarantee that there aren't others.

I would like to know how I completely remove all my personal information from mumsnet databases. I don't mean how I disable my account but how I ensure that any and all of my identifiable information has been expunged.

This is the first time I've ever seen my username and password posted on a social media site and there is no way I'm staying part of this forum.

As far as I can see, the personal information Mumsnet have on me consists of:

My email address; my first and last name; my postcode.

I can change any of these if I want. If you change these fields to (say) made up gmail address; Joe Bloggs; leave the postcode field empty or make one up, then mumsnet will no longer have any of your personal data.

Obviously this depends on what clues to your identity you've put in your posts, but that's already out there and you were presumably happy for it to be since this is a public forum.

You're only ever secure on any internet system according to the size of its Chief Software Engineer's expensive frailty and the potential of the particular account - so if you want to use the internet, just do your best to maintain password integrity and account separation and to keep a weather eye on what's happening with all of your accounts. I don't see that there's much else you can do on a personal level. The brightest and the best have been caught themselves in the past.
