Mobile site strife? Come and post here

Hullo everyone,

There are several threads about the mobile site being a bit wonky (technical term that), so we thought we'd start a thread to keep everyone's comments in one place, so we can see what's what.

It seems from the other threads, a few people were having problems with Galaxy S4 - is anyone else?

Please do post saying what you're using (eg iphone 5, safari, ios 7), and we'll try and make things run a bit more smoothly.

Had the flashing envelope one just now coming back to check if there are any more responses.

RowanMumsnet · 17/12/2014 12:31

@Suddengeekgirl

There's a few bad ads this morning.

The O2 one and one for the Canary Islands are very flicky.

The envelope one is awful! The pics show where it clicks through to.

Brilliant, thanks for this - hopefully we can get it blocked now.

Imscarlet · 17/12/2014 14:31

If you see a little arrow at the top right hand corner of the ad you can stop it yourself using Google ad choices. It's not there for all of them though.

Romeyroo · 18/12/2014 06:30

I am getting on better with the mobile site as I now have an iPhone and can dim the screen; but agree re flickering ads. I find the banner ads at the top better than through the thread, but anything which flashes triggers a migraine.

Anyway, that was not why I was looking for this thread. How do I hide a topic on the mobile site? Do I need to go on to the desktop site to do it? I have worked out how to hide threads but not whole topics.

Thanks in advance Flowers

The mobile site seems to have temporarily dissappeared. I'm being redirected to the desktop site.

Using firefox on a Samsung galaxy s4 mini.

Noo! It's still there for us (I'm on an iphone) - is anyone else finding the mobile site has gone AWOL?

bruffin · 19/12/2014 08:26

Only problem is it is so slow on Samsung S4 and a galaxy tab 3, takes fore ever to load

OodKingWenceslas · 19/12/2014 08:42

Once you're at the bottom of a thread clicking on threads I'm on etc clicks through to the ad rather than the link.

Bookmarking a different point to where you've posted doesn't work still either.

iPhone 5c safari iOS 7

@MrsKringle

And to add, "MNHQ have commented on this thread" doesn't do anything. The word "commented" is in blue but it's not a link.

Thanks MrsKringle - this should be fixed now.

We also think we've found and blocked the scammy 'DM' ad - there were loads of sources for it, which is why it took us so long to track them all down.

The block will take a few hours to take effect, but if you continue to see this ad from Friday afternoon onwards please let us know and we'll try to zap it again. Many apologies that it's taken so long.

IAmLiftzilla · 19/12/2014 16:49

Hello I'm as normal for me on the mobile site, with an iPhone 5. Vodafone have blocked my access to one of the aibu threads due to inappropraite content. I'm intreagued about the thread now. It's about parking and flashing indicators. Any ideas?

IAmLiftzilla · 19/12/2014 17:03

This is the warning I get...

Mobile site strife? Come and post here
YuloidSubstances · 21/12/2014 21:02

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet but I'm having trouble unhiding threads - I can click "show", and they disappear from the list, but pressing save or navigating away just brings them back. Android KitKat, Moto G 2013, Chrome.

YuloidSubstances · 21/12/2014 21:05

Wait, ignore that, threads are gone from my hidden list Confused Panic over.

OodKingWenceslas · 22/12/2014 07:24

And posts freeze on the way to posting

LoveMyBoots · 22/12/2014 21:31

Text for the titles of threads in the list of threads (eg all the threads in active or site stuff, etc) is now in (poss) Times New Roman. Started today. Mobile site on iphone using iOS 7.

I know I've used the word threads far too many times.

MegBusset · 23/12/2014 18:49

My fonts and icons have gone all weird. Iphone 5 using ios7.

calamitySloeGin · 24/12/2014 08:27

I'm on a nexus 5 and am going directly to desktop site rather than mobile, since yesterday.

I can't name change on S4/Internet Explorer

vitabrits · 29/12/2014 11:22

Or change my password

PenelopePitstops · 29/12/2014 11:24

Very slow on Galaxy s5 using chrome. For the past few days it's taken 10 seconds to load a page (yes with 1000 posts) but if I set it lower I end up waiting even longer to read a thread.

Still having to press 'post' twice as well.

vitabrits · 29/12/2014 11:31

Oh problem solved by going to desktop site.

crapcrapcrapcrap · 30/12/2014 11:56

This may have been mentioned but when I click on the link to a user's profile it sends me to the list of talk topics. I'm using a Sony Xperia z3 Compact running Android 4.4.4

Otherwise - and I know this is a radical POV - I really like it Grin

crapcrapcrapcrap · 30/12/2014 11:58

BTW that's using Chrome. And I also need to press post twice to post.
